Just landed a new Weatherby 7mm Wby mag. Ammo is not cheap! I want the rifle to look right but I also don't want to spend $70 sighting in the wrong scope. I've found some Weatherby scopes but little info as to who makes them and how they compare. I'm a Zeiss Conquest fan with Elite 4200 as a close second. Any words of wisdom o great ones?

Can't go wrong with either the conquest or 4200, if your looking for something alittle different, try a meopta. The meopta's are alittle more expensive, but offer great optics while still being reasonably priced.

I need to clarify my query to the Great Ones. I'm interested in how the Weatherby scopes compare to the current mid-high scopes on the market. I.e Conquest and 4200.

The fact that you don't know says volumes about the scope. Name brand it is then. Now I gotta' go find a coin to toss...

i dont know anything about wby's scopes, and i do know that the zeiss and the 4200 are both very good, tough call for me when its your money, i like my 4200, and if i wanted another scope i would buy a zeiss to add to the collection and wouldnt look back. they are both very capable. which is why i say flip a coin

The older Weatherby scopes I believe were made in Germany then later on Japan. Either way we're talking scopes not in manufacture anymore and therefore maybe no place for repairs if needed. Also,Weatherby's site says they don't manufacture scopes and don't recommend any one particular brand. Yep,time for a coin flip.
til later

That's what I found when I "Googled". I would stick with what was already mentioned or upgrade. Still, 4200 and Conquest is good to go. |

I can't speak for their riflescopes, but I do own a Weatherby spotting scope. I'll just say I'm not impressed. I looked through a $200 Stokes Sandpiper that was better.

Yes, I wouldn't bother with Weatherby scopes. Some people collect the old German scopes but they did not have a permanently-centered reticle ( like a lot of the European scopes in the fifties and sixties and on up till modern times...) and only had just a couple of reticles, mostly all fine crosshairs, the rare post, and one that kinda looked like a circle.
Later on, Weatherby had scopes labeled with their name made for them in Japan.
Get a newer scope.
