The swaro would be better but some of the leups or on sale right now.
my preference is 40 or 44 objectives make for a smaller package and a cleaner look, and with good glass you are not giving up much over the larger ones...again IMO. |

you could say that! but it's a swaro and there aint much better even at low lower end, look on the sample list @SWFA.com/ or go back to the front page then sample list.
you might want to check out the Zeiss. Edited by rifle looney - December/30/2008 at 15:08 |

Yes, the Av is swaro's lower line, but even so, a AV will crush a vx-L.

I think you were better comparing the vx-7 to the av, the vxL is $500.00 scope with a pretty front bell, nothing else. Accually the vx-7 is probably nicer than the av line, but for a few more $100 the z6 again eats vx7s lunch.

Swarovski doesn't really have a "low end." The AV is less expensive than their 30mm scopes, having 1" tube, 3X zoom ratio erector assy (vs. 4X zoom for the PV/PH and 6X zoom for Z6), and leaf spring erector support vs. the more robust coil springs used in the 30mm tubed Swaros. Optically, the AV has image quality as good as the PV/PH series, with the same glass and coatings.

30mm tube will make no difference in brightness or optical quality. The better glass in the Swaro will make a bigger difference than the large bell on the Leupold. Zeiss Divari is about the only scope in the Swaros League.

For general purpose hunting, I like the 4A the best, personally. It has thicker outer posts than the plex, so it's more visible in low light, yet the upper portion of the reticle doesn't have a post, so the view is less cluttered by reticle.
