Yes there are some updates.  Its been a bit of a wait, so hopefully good things come with time.  I will have my first look at this scope about mid week, 5-6-09 to be exact.

In talking with SWFA, first impressions are "Im impressed" .   Optics are quite clear @ 50x and the guys state it is "quite a deal"for under $1000.00..   First thing to do is get it to the range to see just what a target with some holes in it looks  like at 600 yards.

In typical fashion, SWFA took this thing outside in the daylight to see just what was going on and came back with the " Im impressed" statement.  I can only presume that their judgement when it comes to optical clarity should be "better than mine".

600 yards will be the limit of range for any comments generated at this time.  1000 yards is available but not readily acessable, so if it passes the 600 yard punishment I will take it to the next level.

The fact that the glass has recieved positive remarks has left me ready and willing to move forward, frankly I cant wait to get this thing in my hands.  Tracking and repetability along with any mechanical issues are going to get alot of attention.

Like I stated earlier, " I aint going to be anal" about all this.  If its worth the money spent I will be fair and honest  about "all" of my findings.  And let me say this, I am by no means an "optical expert", its just when you part with your hard earned dollar you should get what you pay for.  For me its right at the $1000.00 mark.

Update; received the scope today.  Was at the range an hour later, in the mid-afternoon sun with an approx. humidity of 50% and temp approx. 84*.   Well, so far I too am impressed.  Bullet holes at 300yds. well defined.  This scope is no joke.!  At 600 yds, bullet holes are still well resolved.  Clarity at 600 is "CLEAR", the leaves on the trees above the birm are well defined.  No flares, smoke, fade, dimming , nothing. Damn thing is just plain clear.  The target is clear and free of any distractions.

First thing we do is shed some weight. Remove that "ships wheel" on the parallax adj. and we are down to 32.4ozs.  From 37 as shipped.   Fit and finish is on par with any scope in its class for price, just as well done for scopes that cost about 3-400 more.  Turret function is smooth and tactile, "0" backlash in either direction.  Very positive and audible. Turrets have "0" wobble, engraving could be a bit sharper but it doesnt take away from the precision character of the scope.  The fast focus diopter is smooth and firm, "0" play in any direction. Cant find any toloerences detectable by hand. Good enough for me.

Just one thing, 'parallax".  From 0 to 200 yards, thats it.  Today I dont seem to need any adjustments (focus) past 200yds anyway. Set it for infinity and shoot from 200 to 600 .  All this is going on while set at 50x also.  It has no problem focusing on anything at any distance while at 50x.

will I keep it, probably.  Next comes the box test, dope from 100 to 600 yards and back again..  Just an after thought; the reticle.   Picture a heavy duplex with a mildot center. The center is very fine, like 1/8 target dots with no center dot.  For me, good for F-class or bench to 1000yards no problem.  I wont dial in the middle of a match, will hold over tac style and this reticle is well suited for this.

Pictures, thru the scope from 100 to 600. I will do these for yall.  Is it worth 850.00, yes. If not for anythinfg else but a fantastic view at 50x.  Will the mechanical end prove itself, I think so.  Reticle is glass etched, adjustments are precise and smooth.  No, Im not an expert. I have been playing with rifles and scope for 40 years and you just have a feel for quality when its in your hands. Thats what I think I have here.

When its picture time, how do you load them up here on the OT?

Had to play with this Nikko some more this morning.  Eye relief; every bit of 4" at 50x.  Exit pupil; supposed to 1.3mm at 50x, I think its more than that. Not fussy at all, picture is just too easy to find.
Was looking at my neighbors house today, he sits about 1000yrd. away.  At 50x I can count the segments in his roof shingles.

Just one negative, it doesnt come with a "sun shade".  Dont know yet if I can get one.  The warranty is handled thru Legacy Sports.  Talked to Gene, the owner of the company this AM:, he says its lifetime and a "swap-out" if there are any problems.

   cdog, you getting all this?

After the match on Saturday, went to work mounting this scope.   54 moa elevation is as advertised.   Eye relief is more like 4.5".  It doesnt change.  Picture is extremely quick to find, just weld your cheek and your ready to go. No fishing around for it, its right there waiting for ya.  After 4 rounds to find the target, the rifle shoots 1 hole at 100yds.  This rifle produced this accuracy before and after the install of the Nikko Diamond Sportsman.   After 20 rounds, dont think we have any POI shifting problems either.
I dont think for a minute this thing is a lemon.  If it has any problems the warranty "will" handle it. I did verify this before it was mounted.

Pictures are the only way for this scope to be judged without seeing one in person. I will do my best to get them in here.  Optical clarity, there are a few 12-42 and fixed 45x shooters that are more than impressed.  I should have used this scope in my match Saturday for sure, next time.

cdog, sorry Im so late.  You have to drag me off the range since I mounted this scope.  I have been shooting the bones out of this rifle scope combo.  Pictures, yes I will take some at the range tomorrow and try and post them here.

How are you doing with your purchase?  Or are you waiting on these pictures?
