Oh, save the shoulder, lose the ears. I'll stick with my .300 winny.

Where's the fun in that? Besides, some of them won't let you get closer than about 400

Thats why I shoot alot of ammo trying to make sure almost everything is in range. I'll try to get close, but if I can't, I want to know that I can hit from where I am.

According to the Berger website, they will fill requests for reloading data until their reloading manual comes out this spring. So tonight, I e-mailed Berger requesting all VLD reloading data available for the 300 WSM.

I have gotten their data on my WSM. I can say the velocities they achieved weren't spectacular, but with their high b.c. the bullets carry more energy anyway.

............Well! As they say, every individual rifle is different given the same loads. Max load tolerances vary and velocities are different too.

No doubt when seating bullets to contact the rifling, the charges need to be reduced somewhat as pressures increase. But, I wonder if the new velocities that the new hi-tech Rel 17 can reportedly generate in the 300 WSM, can compensate without pressure signs for the VLD bullets that are seated closer to or onto the lands. Interesting thought!

Berger told me today, they reco a max bullet distance of no further than 15/1000ths from the rifling and working closer to the rifling to find what COAL is the most accurate in each bullet weight.

If a 7mm Remy using a VLD hunting bullet can stop a bull elk at 700 to 800 yards as seen on TV, then I shouldn`t have a problem, assuming I do my part, with effectively stopping one at 500 or 600 yards.... No 700 or 800 yard shots for me. That Huskamaw scope wouldn`t look right on a light compact rifle anyway.

I requested data from Berger for loading 168 VLD's in a 7mm STW.  I received data back from Walt Berger himself, but the data was generated using QuickLoad.  I didn't use the data because I found out that the rifle that the bullets were purchased for had a barrel with a 1:11 twist.  I ended up loading some for my 7mm Rem Mag - using data generated by QuickLoad.

From reports I got, you wouldn't want one anyway. Buy a real scope and put a Kenton knob on it. Did you see what they are asking for their chinese junk?

...............No, I haven`t seen the price. Don`t want a "Gunwerks" rifle or a "Huskemaw" scope..........I`m interested in the Berger bullets that they use.

With the VLD`s impact and explosion characteristics into the vitals, it adds better longer range stopping power for the rifle I already have. Plus, I very well may gain better accuracy over the SST`s I`m using now.

I`m more of a glass, then spot and then stalk kind of hunter. 500 yards, maybe to 600 yards at the very most is the maximum yardage I would consider shooting a big bull elk. Don`t need a Gunwerks rifle or a Huskemaw scope to do that. I do like the idea of changing the bullet and adding better stopping power.

These VLD`s should be an awesome and devastating (any size) hog bullet too!

Here, check them out. Huskemaw optics without the Huskemaw.
What the hell kind of name is that anyway?
By the way squeezer they go for $1075. Think Swaro american price range.
