Excellent gift, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.  Give us an update on them when you get a chance.

Well there is a story behind these binoculars. My girlfriends dad is a hunter and got me into hunting and the shooting sports. I started out with no hunting gear so I was always borrowing gear from him. The binoculars I got for Christmas are the ones I always borrow. I have used them on several hunting trips and enjoy them very much. They are really clear, not too heavy, and I have not had a complaint about them. I have spent hours behind these binoculars on deer hunting trips and have had no problems

The 8x30 Zeiss Classic is one of the most durable binoculars ever made.  Excellent field of view and very good low light performance.  You're a lucky guy.

Monster, one doesn't bring bad luck. it just happens and the most important thing is how you deal with it. there is always next time, and just enjoy the experience....
