I can get the fallowing
buckmasters 4.5-14x40=$255.39        mildot
monarch 4-16x42=$379.00                 mildot
elite 4200 4-16x40=$435.49               multi-x
elite 6500 2.5-16x42=$553.79            mildot

for the price im leaning towards the monarch as I have compared it to the elite 4200 and find them equal in my opinion, and ive heard the 6500 has the same glass as the 4200 but dont see how considering the higher price.

any ideas greatly appreciated
Thanks guys
Jerry M.

the monarch has better eye relief than the 4200 but other than that and rainguard they are to close to call, im not sure about the 6500 having the same glass or not.

I've looked through a few 6500's and they are every bit as good as a4200 that's all I can say.  I've done some resolution tests with Monarchs and Elite 4200's out at my club.  I've set up 3 of each in various maginifications and had others shooting which they thought was better.  We attempt to read the fine print on 100 yard targets.  I've never met anyone who thought the Nikon had better optics yet.  On the same magnification you can read lines of text that are blurry with Nikon's no matter how you adjust them.

Keep in mind these are only 3 examples of each but I thought is was a worthy exercise.  And you'd never notice a Monarch lacked anything unless you just looked through a 4200 first.Wink
