Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo! (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun! This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington. To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to: http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm |

I'll give them part of the ammo----uncoded or coded....I don't care. Are they going to come for it?? Or do we have to SEND it to 'em?

I saw this yesterday in an NRA alert. This is another case where the only people affected would be the law abiding citizens. So what if it would be against the law for a criminal to possess non-encoded ammunition. Does anyone think for one second that a criminal would care? It wasn't that long ago that the buzz was that manufacturers would have to place microstamps in the firearms so that each round fired would be stamped with the information from that gun. I read in several places that this technology was not reliable enough. So here we go again. The other thing that was mentioned in the NRA alert was that it would take four times as long for manufacturers to produce this ammunition versus the current production time. Gee, what do you think that will do to ammunition prices? This is nothing but a bunch of BS - the anti-gunners couldn't get it done in the court system, so let's get some new laws passed to bypass the 2nd amendment. I will definitely voice my opinion to my elected officials.

That would be a logistics nightmare. God tracking of just firearms up here cost a billion dollars and has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. How the hell they would track ammunition sales to purchaser by encoded numbers sounds like a nightmare. What if you lent ammo on a hunt to someone else?
Maybe initially their plan is to just check if you have coded ammo. Edited by Dogger - December/16/2008 at 12:52 |

Ed,
Do you still have Obama on speed dial? I figured that he would make you delete it after he got your vote. When I said elected officials, I was actually referring to my state representatives. All of the legislation I saw was being or has been introduced at the state level so far - or did I miss something? You better get Pelosi's number too while you are at it. From what I've read lately, it appears that she is getting ready for a cat fight with the Obama camp. Might have to go thru her to get to Obama. Between her and Hillary, I almost feel sorry for him. Well, not really.

Yeah - and probably 90% of them will all develop CRS in the next 18 months(if that long) and will deny ever voting for him - kinda like Bill Clinton when he was in office(except the same people got CRS twice). There will probably be a modified "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy enacted just for all of these individuals.

Ed, it was only slightly over 50% (52 actually, even though the Anointed One likes to claim 53). The "herd" is not as large as Dems would like us to believe. At least not yet.

Why are seven of the states where these bills have been introduced ones like Alabama? I find it hard to believe such a bill could gain enough traction to get out of committee. What I read on the ODCMP forums was that some loser outfit in WA State has tried to push the technology and this was the only way they could sell it - by getting it mandated.
The first objection I would have if I was a legislator is that people would just hop over the state line and get ammo next door. And how could you possibly police people doing that? Or account for all the stored up ammo in people's basements, etc? I know one LEO who has 12K .308 rounds alone. I doubt he's going to come take mine. |

Makes me glad I live in Texas! Only Oklahoma would be less likely to do something foolish like this.

you know we havent heard from ted lately i know he said he was going to do family stuff this week, but you know he has a f-150 pickup
DALLAS – Authorities pressed a manhunt Tuesday for a gunman in a pickup truck who is suspected of killing two people and injuring another in a series of rush hour shootings on Dallas-area roads. The suspect was last seen Monday evening heading west on Interstate 635, which loops Dallas and connects to other interstates, said Sgt. Gil Cerda, a Dallas police spokesman. The shootings happened within minutes of each other. Afterward, rush hour traffic slowed along the highway as police shut down all westbound lanes of 635 east of the shooting scenes for several hours. "I'm getting shot at! I think I'm shot!" the injured big rig driver said in a radio call to his employer, according to a report by The Dallas Morning News. The employer, Jesse Medford, terminal manager with Dugan Truck Line, told the newspaper that he instructed his driver to pull over, and Medford then called 911. The driver was injured by debris and glass but not struck by a bullet. Police had a few witnesses after the shootings and were hoping to contact more. "We've got detectives working," Cerda said. The first shooting occurred around 5:45 p.m. Monday in Garland, a Dallas suburb. A pickup truck heading south on a major road pulled up alongside a small Nissan stopped at a red light and began shooting, police spokesman Joe Harn said. The car's driver, 20-year-old Jorge Lopez, of Rowlett, was killed. Witnesses told police the pickup then drove off toward I-635 in Dallas, where an 18-wheeler was shot at shortly after. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt, police said. The suspect continued west on the highway, then shot and killed the driver of a United Van Lines 18-wheeler rig, Cerda said. Lt. Craig Miller of the Dallas homicide unit said the victim was 42-year-old William Scott Miller, of Frankfort, Ky. Then the suspect drove about a quarter- to a half-mile on the interstate and fired at Medford's employee driving an 18-wheeler. The driver told Medford that he did not know who was shooting and could not give a detailed description of the assailant, newspaper reported. "He didn't say anything about any type of road rage," Medford said. Police are looking for a suspect described as a balding white man in his 40s, driving a tan Ford F-150 extended cab pickup. |

Here in England we have had firearm (but not shotgun) ammunition purchases recorded on our Firearms Certificates for many years. This also applies for expanding bullets. We are very limited to what we can hold and buy at a time. A typical deer caliber may be hold 100 and buy 60.

Why couldn't this become a national law along with a renewal of the assault weapons ban and ban on high-capacity magazines? Here we go again. Please make sure all your shooting/hunting buddies join the NRA. The best deal I've seen recently is a 5-year membership for $100.
"Any privately held un coded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011." I've seen dates on "suggested legislation" of January 1, 2011. Me and my hunting buddies will have to do alot of target practice to use up all our un-coded ammo. My opinion - this law will become a national law. Timber |

After July 1 2011 are they going to stand down range and check for coding as the rounds go past? Just remember black powder guns are not considered firearms.
