Just received a new Zeiss Conquest 2.5-8x32. LARGE piece of lint in the ocular. It moves with the focus ring. O-ring is cut and sticking out under the vertical adjustment cover. Small glittery specks on both the ocular and objective lenses that looks like the coating is missing. The Zeiss emblem is crooked, and the lens cover is for a bigger scope. What the HECK is going on with Zeiss USA? I waited all day for this scope to get here for a hunt Monday and the flaws were so obvious I noticed them as soon as I opened the box. Speaking of the box the scope was loose and sliding around during the shipping process. Just a small scope laying in too large of a box with some paperwork. SHEESH!

Call Zeiss and tell them how much you love their products, yet how disappointed you were.  They fixed an issue that I had quickly and to my satisfaction.

Sounds like time to send that one back. Do not mount it.  I'm sure they will make it right Zeiss has a long history of quality.  Doesnt sound like the kind of packaging I have gotten from SWFA, all my stuff has been packed really well.

I'm letting SWFA have this one back. This whole thing started because one of my highly regarded Elite 4200s has a loose reticle and I don't have time to wait on Bushnell. I must be cursed. I found a crack running half way down my walnut Tikka stock a few days ago. Beginning of muzzleloader season I found a crack in my walnut Encore stock. I hunt hard in the mountains but I'm very careful with my firearms. Just one of those years. I'm really disapointed in the Zeiss QA department, assuming they have one. Both of my 3-9x40 Conquest were perfect but that was a few years ago.

This was my first SWFA purchase so I'm glad to hear the packaging was not typical. The scope box was packaged well in a larger box, but the scope itself was just floating around in it's box. I got the impression that Zeiss used the 3-9x40 box and lens covers to reduce cost. The lens covers look pretty lame with a 40mm cover on a 32mm objective.

Yeah, and this was the only 2.5-8 SWFA had in stock! Life is still in balance though. Last week I gave a guy I know 500 bucks for some guns because he needed the cash. Turns out they're worth about two grand and he could care less about firearms. The only scope in the bunch is a Japan made Maverick. Never heard of that one.

Hmm I have been thinking about getting a Conquest myself for my .308 CZ, but maybe i'll just stick with my proven 4200's.

ALSO:  Don't worry about all the problems you have been having I'm sure you will end up getting that monster buck this year.  Just teh way things go sometimes Big Smile

I agree the Conquest packaging sucks, mine arrived in a box rapped in a piece of white stiff paper, just bouncing around in the box , luckily mine survived during transit.

I'm writting this for the sake of humor, not whining. So far this deer season I've been stove up from a motorcycle wreck, recovering from hernia surgery, had two defective scopes, two cracked stocks, tore the front bumper off my truck twice, had to repair the Silverado electronic 4x4 switch while stuck on a 45deg incline, had a friend kill a 154lb ten point from an area I showed him, record low temps, a draught, had to replace my entire kitchen floor due to a water leak, sheesh!

Sounds like you received a used scope by mistake.

I had a Bushnell reticle crash as well, they had very good turn around times, no questions asked.

I put my scopes through a lot of bouncing around while resting in my ATV fin grips, jeep off road rides, typical hunting trip/slip/fall, etc. I would think a Zeiss scope would survive typical ground shipping with no issues.

Karma starting to come back on you. I hate it when that happens. I don't understand why the kitchen floor got involved, usually karma doens't work that way.

I just received my new Conquest 4.5-14x44 a couple of days ago.  Mine was in perfect shape, BUT, the actual packaging was horribly inadequate, IMHO.  The scope itself was only wrapped in a single sheet of thin, white corrugated cardboard, without any other packaging to take up the extra 2" of length in the box.  This allowed the scope to just slide around in the box.  A little bubble wrap or wadded packing paper would really help (are you listening, Zeiss?) better secure the scope.  Overall, bad packaging, but very nice glass.

I'm pretty sure my z6, with all the paper work, etc. came in a box like that too, it was then placed in a larger box surrounded by shipping peanuts. I have to admit I was a little surprised as well. Got to hand it to Leupold, they really do a job with their packaging.

My scopes see far worse conditions in the field than they ever will in the shipping box. As long as the lenses don't get messed up before they get here, I'm good. I can make a mess of the rest of the finish when I get it in the field.
