Was able to spend the entire day with friends on the 1000 yard line.  3 guys, 4 308 winchester rifles.

1st, anyone says a Springfield M21 won't hit anything at distance is welcome to come be a target holder Big Smile  there's just nowhere to hide.
I remain amazed at the capabilites of this thing.

155 scenars group very well but the claimed bc is waaaaaaaaay  optomistic.
175 sierras wil keep up with the scenars if you can read mirage........ real well.

190 matchkings at 2650fps just kick ass. It's like you chambered a laser.
Had some spectators come up and watch.  One of my buddies put a 60 sumthin guy behind his rifle and coached the guy into a three shot 6 inch group centered on target at  1000 yards.  Damn I love that bullet.Bandito
We were so giuddy with the days accomplishments none of us remembered to stop for beer.

SB,
42.5 varget in a Hornady case.  1:11.25 twist 5 groove barrel in my bolt gun.
Gas gun shoots varget and 175's, 190s are just too abusive too for that platform.

Once I went to this style stock with adjustable ckeek and no drop at the heel I won/t have anything else.  It's like shooting my bolt rifle............but faster  :)

That's one from Turner Saddlery. 54 inch Full grain leather 1.2 wide with stitched keepers and riveted frogs.  All my decent rifles wear  them.

Mr. Mike, didn't you have a LRB M1A at one time?
Seems I remember drooling over the picture of it a time or two. Big Grin

I've thought about moving up to a heavier bullet but wonder if it will work well out of a 20" in a 1:12 twist. I mostly shoot 165-168s now over 44 gr. of Varget.

Just have to try them. My 1 in 12 twist, 26" barrel doesn't seem fond of any bullet over 168gr bullets.
