I saw a cat catch a "tree rat" one time out my kitchen window. One of the coolest things I've ever seen in the wild! He stalked it just like the cat is in your picture 8. There were two squirrels and they were playing grab ass and didn't see the cat. |

It is actually frightning ( from a conservation point of view)how much wildlife domestic cats take in the suburbs. Birds, lizards, spiders, mice etc.
I believe certain areas in Australia were trying to ban domestic cats for this reason.
I know our cat regulary drags in pigeons, lizards etc Edited by 8shots - November/13/2008 at 01:51 |

We got cats. No mice for one hundred yards in every direction. We ought to bill the neighbors...................

Question ED. Does your cat bring them home alive like mine does? She put one under the Christmas tree one year. We could not figure why she stayed under the tree for weeks. then when we were handing out the gifts it got flushed out from under the tree.

Sometimes they bring them home to show us their trophy......if they are still alive they will not be so for long. One mouse is like a Happy Meal. If they catch a dove or a pidgeon, then that is a little more on their plate.

8 you bring up one of the main reasons I can't stand to see a cat when I'm hunting or scouting. Their dead meat if I can get a shot on them. I really don't care for the things anyway but ofcourse my wife had one when we met so I've tolerated them at the house ever since. I have to admit the one she has now is a tough critter. To have no front claws she brings her share of stuff to the door. And we've seen her catch squirrels several times and never seen her butt handed to her once as I expected. One big problem though is on three occassions this summer she brought live maple leave moccisans to the door and dropped them. Why they didn't bite her I don't know, but the rascals sure tried to bit me when I walked up with the shevel.

There's a couple of cats that wouldn't last long at the house. I can see the wife now screaming after the thing with a broom!!!! LOL
