Well looks like just because you have money doesn't mean you have the common sense of an idiot. Dear old obnoxious Dan got his butt handed to him today after he donated money twice to the Obama election. He was impressed with an Obama speech. While he claims that he also donated to the McCain camp, there are no records of it. The Board of Directors, hearing about how upset the gun owners of America were about it, they handed him his pink slip. Here's the USA Today article about the donations:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politic...ez-money_N.htm

Here's the Cooper Rifles website and the notice of termination:
http://www.cooperfirearms.com/

It's hard to believe that a man who is in the rifle business would contribute to a candidate that is more out spoken about limiting your rights to own a gun than anybody in recent history. It's mind boggling to think that these are the executives running America today. It's no wonder we are in the sad shape financially that we are. Only thing I can say is Dan, don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
I'm classic shag nasty type.

Too little too late. Ouch

Wonder about Dan Coopers stock interestWhatever and golden parachute.Looker I dont think I want a Cooper any more.  They can start making barrels with no holes in them now- Cooper Display guns- they even look like the real thing like they used to have back before 08.

Poor Dan,
He's under the delusion that Obama doesn't want to take HIS guns just those evil black rifles and pistols used by street thugs.  Good for Cooper Arms board. Hand the man his hat and show him the door!

How are you gonna hand him his hat and show him the door when he still owns the company?

Until the Cooper changes names and owners, the income will still go to his pockets!!!

He does not own the company.  It is incorporated meaning it is owned by shareholders.  He may own some of the shares, but unless he owns 51 percent or more they (the shareholders and directors) can force him out of authority.  But that being said if he is a shareholder which I am sure he is he could become a real pain in their ass if he wanted to.

That does not matter that he is the CEO or the board chair.  The shareholders appoint who the directors are.  If they and the other directors say he is out then he is out.  That is again unless he owns the controlling share of the company.

Un-freaking-believable.    When Smith & Wesson did a dumb thing we attributed it to the fact that they were then being owned by a British concern......but a MONTANA gun company...formerly associated with Kimber???  Oh My God!!

Well, in retrospect, it looks like this betrayal was confined to just Dan Cooper, and the rest of Cooper Firearms management stepped up to the plate and fired the guy.  They made a public statement that the company itself doesn't support Obama.  I don't know what more they could have done under the circumstances, and I'm not sure that the company and its employees should be punished by gun owners any further due to the actions of its former CEO if they fired him.  After all, we forgave Smith and Wesson once they were aquired by different owners following their fiasco.  At no time did Cooper Firearms itself ever endorse Obama from what I can tell, and as soon as Dan Cooper's contributions came to light, the company immediately distanced itself from him.

I agree Ted, Coopers' board did the right thing, nothing personal, just a good business decision.   I have guys (Hunters mind you) at work who think Obama is not anti-gun ownership.  That's when I wonder what plant they have been living on.

That does not say he is the majority owner, all it says is he is the agent.  Whomever the board assigns to be the agent for registration is that agent at the time, which just happens to typically be the CEO.  The amount of shares listed is how many the business has total, not how many Cooper has.  If this was the case then the board could not have asked him to step down.  There would be absolutely nothing they could do about it.  He could fire everyone of them and the employees for going against him.  It does not appear that is happening.

It appears to have been pulled.

The history link seems to have been updated. http://www.cooperfirearms.com/history.html

Last paragraph:

Dan Cooper founded Cooper Firearms, Inc. and is the founder of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc. He is a 1979 graduate of Lewis and Clark College and is known as the first person in modern history to hike the entire length of the Continental Divide from Mexico to the Bering Strait (North American Divide Expedition, 1980-1985). Dan is a former employee of Kimber of Oregon and Cooper Firearms, Inc.
