Chris,
Roger that about the TR21. I didnt go that way (or the MRT for that matter) for fear of mounting problems on my M4. I would have used the LaRue SPR/E so ER wouldnt have been a problem but I have to run a PAQ4 on the front of my rail and I didnt want to risk the optic not clearing it when mounted.
I have since pulled in two ACOGs to serve me over in the box. First is a TA47 2X20 compact w/an amber triangle reticle. Second is a TA31F 4X32 ACOG (both in LaRue mounts). I will also have my M68 so if one of these dont get it done...
Thanks for replying and for your advice. Stay safe over there, brother!

The only Accupoints I saw while in Iraq were on Navy EOD M14EBRs. It was a sexy rig and the fiber optics make the amber chevron obnoxiosly bright. I'm sure you realize that mounting it will be an issue. What weapon system are you going to be using? For an M4-I like the TA01NSN and for an M14/M21 I like a Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40 TMR FFP. I sure hope you get to use it, either way. Good hunting!

Thank you, sir. As far as WANT goes... The optic choices I have posted about in this thread all qualify as WANT. As more information regarding our mission is learned it will narrow the field down some to more of a NEED Im sure. As far as price point--$800.00 max and that must include the mount. Thank you again.

No, I wont turn dowm an M4 AP. I am half dumb on most days but NOT half stupid so...
Yes, the compacts give up a few things to get a few in return. The narrow FOV of the TA33 is both a good and bad thing IMO. For me its "good" when Im trying to go BAC with the ACOG. The more narrow FOV helps me do this easier with the 33 then with the full sized 31. But I can see how it (small FOV) could be a "bad" thing if you are eyes on a building looking for threats to pop out the window for example.
I still havent pulled the trigger on any new optic yet. Im still waiting for more information regarding our mission (there have been some changes) to trickle down my way before I tax the debit card. We shall see. Thank you for taking the time to respond. It means alot.

Not trying to sound cheap but since you kind gents used the word "value" so will I; Price is a huge factor and/or hurdle for ALL. Its just some folks can overcome that factor and/or hurdle a bit easier then others. And I dont mind spending X-amount of $$$ as long as I know and trust that Im getting the same (or more) x-amount of value for my buck. ARMS mounts, for me, have provided that in the past (I did break one the last time I was in Saudi Arabia, though! ) As for the compact ACOGs; they are the shiz and I wish I could own every make and model of the line. However, at this time, I do not trust that they provide ME with the "value" we all have just posted about and insted of jumping that particular hurdle I will be looking elsewhere for comfort. Not that a TA47 isnt in my future. But as far as the compact line goes I do think the TA33 is the value leader in its class and I will likely end up with a 33 before a 47 unless Trijicon sweets the treat by a little price modification.I hope Ive explained my opinions fairly well (my two year old son just got up and wants to play insted of going back to sleep! Goodnite! Yak

I understand the wallet issue but your life is worth something likely more than the difference I hope. There is nothing wrong with this ARMS mount. I do like GG&G stuff also but was a victim of what was available and the 2x was not but having used the 1.5 I do not feel I lost out as the field of view is about 10 ft wider and that translates to faster. Im sold on the ACOG s

Nice set up. Man, I dig the compact ACOGs more and more. I've recently been turned on to the TA47 2X20 version in the compact line. I think, or my needs, it fits the bill pretty well as far as the whole ACOG series goes. A TA47 in a LaRue or an ADM mount will cost me more then what I will pay for the MRT/Larue combo, though. YMMV
