I have a Weatherby Vanguard Stainless/Syntheic in the 7mm Rem. Mag. and am trying to find the "right" bullet from hunting whitetail deer. I'd like to shoot either 140gr. or 150gr. I want a bullet that is going to stay together on impact; not one that will fragment instantly. I have heard good things about the 154gr. hornady (?). I dont want something too expensive; probably between $30-45 a box. I usually hunt in N. MI.
what do you guys find to be the best for whitetail?

I personally use a ballistic tip for whitetails, be hornady or nosler. I know people will say that these bullets fragment or open to quickly, but I've always had good luck with them, both on game and at the range.

I also use BT's for whitetails, however, if you insist on bullets that don't fragment, try Barnes TSX's. In reality, you don't have to pay premium bullet prices for pursuing whitetails. Find the bullet that your gun shoots best, be it TSX, Swift Scirocco's, Nosler Accubonds, Hornaday Interbonds, Remington Core-Lokt Ultra's etc. I have shot a good number of whitetails with BT's and no two bucks ever died in a similar fashion. Some drop like they were hit with a grenade launcher, some ran like they were never hit at all with very similar shot placements.

I have the SUB-MOA version of that gun in .270 wsm, and shoot 150 gr. boring old winchester powerpoints. They group very well out of my gun, and don't need anything more fancy than that to quickly kill whitetail. I have shot them with accubonds also, and they are very effective.
