Just got a new .300 WSM and am looking at putting some high quality glass on it. It will be a strictly hunting rifle only. Predominently used for whitetail deer hunting from a tree stand. I want something that is pretty good at low light and is tough/durable in a 3-10x50 power. I was thinking either: 1) Schmidt and bender Zenith
2) Swarovski PH
3) Zeiss Victory Diavari
Which scope is best?

Wow........ You know all three are so close, I'd just recommend that you find the one that has the reticle, and features that you like best. I've looked through all three here and I can see nothing to allow me to say which one is better. I happen to like the Diavari. Again that's mainly preference. I'm admittedly not a Swaro fan though.

I know this one is not a PH but it is the one I would get. The power range is perfect for all types of hunting. http://www.swfa.com/pc-13694-978-swarovski-17-10x42-z6-30mm-riflescope.aspx

You can get a Swaro z6 from the sample list right now. The price it'll beat any of those you listed plus it's a z6 which is one of the best hunting scopes you can buy.
Call SWFA for more details, they may even have a brand new 2-12x50 z6 with plex retilce that's not listed for almost $50.00 less. http://www.opticstalk.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=13286&KW=&PID=139707#139707 Personally I like the 2-12x50 z6 the best out of any of the z6 line. Guys, thanks so much for the feedback - much appreciated. A couple of other questions. Are these three scopes considered to be the elite choice in available riflescope optics? Everything I've read says that these 3 are the top elite choices. Also, Is any special one of these scopes better at low light that the other? Feedback from someone who has looked thru them all at twighlight would be much appreciated. What kind of difference should be expected in either of these three vs. say a Zeiss conquest? How much more time of light and/or clarity is to be gained?
All I've ever had as far as rifle scopes go has previously been a tasco world class. But since Ive graduated college, started my career, and got married this year - I thought I would give myself a little present. Thanks again for all yalls help.

Nice present!! The Swaro z6 is the elite scope for the Swaro line not the PH. I used the 2-12x50 z6 for two years now under a variety of hunting situations and absolutely love it. So much so that I snagged a second one (discounted - brand new - including OEM warranty) off the Sample List much like the one I listed for you. The price will beat the S&B and the Zeiss pricing by a couple of bills. As for which scope is better between these four (including the Z6) it's debatable. IMHO it's a toss up between the Zeiss and the Z6. The Zeiss might have a slight edge in low light conditions and reticle choices but the Swaro has better FOV and the range 2-12 is killer. I think the S&B might be a tad heavy for a hunting rifle, at least the way we hunt, on the move and not in a stand all day. Here is the current rifle scope rating scale. It's a guideline, not gospel, and it's designed to assist those trying to make a decision on which scope to buy. 2008 Riflescope Rating Scale
