I have a few questions about both Kalhes scopes and Meopta scopes.  The reason for these is because I am not familiar with either company.( when i ask the questions below compairing the brands to the conquest line, i am talking about the scopes that are in the conquest price range and that are under $600)

Are the two companies part of each other in any way?
How do each one of them compare to the Zeiss Conquest line?
Are both made in the USA?

Thanks

Kahles are great scopes made in Austria.  Meopta scopes are made in the Czech Republic.  Both have real nice glass.  I have never seen a Kahles but from what people say they are a little better than the Meoptas in their rifle scopes.

Meopta actually makes all the lenses for Zeiss conquest scopes so they are pretty comparable optically.

Kahles are having some serious customer service issues right now because the importer seems to be dropping the ball.

I have personally used Meoptas customer service to return a scope and was very happy with the service I got. One week turn around time and I had a brand new scope in my hands.  People are waiting several months on the Kahles right now as everything is shippied to Austria for repairs.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Use both a Zeiss Conquest and a Kahles American Hunter 3X9's.  The Kahles has a  more precise picture and it has slightly better light gathering.   I have no experience with Meopta.

Why must everything I like be so expensive?

Optically Meopta Meostar is right between Conquest and Kahles: a little better than Conquest and a little worse than Kahles.  Other Meopta scopes (various Artemis ones) are not quite as good as Meostar.

I have some Kahles scopes and for the price, at the time, couldn't get a better deal on glass for the money.  They are having some CS issues now, but I haven't had any issues with mine.

I really like the Conquest line. The only negative I can think of regarding the Meostar is it is a bit heavy for me but if I got a good deal on one I'd buy it in a heartbeat. IMHO, I wouldn't buy a Kahles until I'm sure the company isn't going under.

The Meostar R 1 Meopta I had (4-12 X 40) was nice but I had a couple of dislikes: shorter eye relief, heavy, & reticle. Most are SFP and  reticles are etched. They are 30mm tubes except for a 1" fixed power. Optics wise they are nice. I also had a Kahles CL which was very nice. It's a 1" tube SFP. No issues with it. I like my Conquests and would place them just at or below the Meoptas.
