I just got a DPMS long range 308 and I'm planning on using i for hunting, but i would also like to be able to get quik target acquisition. obviously the best is an ACG however I can't stomach spending almost the price of the rifle. I've read about the bindon aiming concept, and have learned that the illuminated reticle is what is important.

I have looked at the millett line of bucklightning sopes, any other suggestions? I'm looking for something that can atleast go 4x, and no morw than 9x.

Thanks!

How much can you spend, including rings?

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Well I guess I;,m not sure yet. I wanted to see what the other options are. But I would probably just get an ACOG if all the other otions are close in price.

These should get you started.

This one has a .308 BDC and is fixed 4x.  I have a .223 version on my AR and it is a nice tough scope.

yeah those are the ones I've run into. so it looks like for the money I should just go w/ the ACOG.I have a bushnell trophy 1x32 red dot. what about just getting a magnifier?

You could, but I just got a red dot with a magnifier.  If they are all the same the field of view is terrible.  The one I have would make a terrible hunting setup.  Red dots have a very small field of view anyway, but using both eyes open helps a lot.  But I would still rather have a regular scope.  JMO

That IOR I listed first is a really nice setup and considerably cheaper than the ACOG.  People I know that have them seem to like them a lot.  3 or my buddies use them and a couple guys on this site use them I believe and have had good luck with them.  IORs have extrememly nice glass in them you will be satisfied that way.

But the ACOGs are awesome scopes, just pricy for a fixed power scope.  If I were going to spend that kind of money I would get a 1-4x variable of some sort for the same cost.

If you went with the Trijicon Accopoint 1-4x you would have the same triangle sight that is in an ACOG.  Plus you have a variable.  Down side is you don't have the BDC in the reticle.  But out to 300 or so yards you won't really need anything for hunting if you zero your gun a 200 or 225 or so.

For the money I like the IOR and the Trijicon.

6547 Trijicon 4x32 ACOG TA01B, Full Line Red Illumination, .308 bullet drop reticle, ready to mount in carry handle, 100% new in box, display model $990.00 $699.95
One of my sons uses this one and it is not ideal for room clearing but anything over 25 yds it works very nicely.
Note it has holes for 2 screws and only comes with one so order the second screw when you order a base probably an ARMS10
