You'll have better luck with the matte. Since the scope, barrel and mounts will all look different.
But LOOKS is the least important factor here. Which scope best meets your shooting needs. I'd narrow down the needs and amount you want to spend. Then choose from the options you have.
The target could care less!!!!.....:-)

I agree with the matte scope. The brighter silver colored scopes will clash more rather than contrast better with your barrel. The XCR has the black stock if I`m not mistaken.
From the bottom up, you`ll have your black stock, then your stainless barrel, then use the black bases and black rings along with the matte scope. A black, stainless, black is a better contrast than trying to silver match, which will color clash.
I have seen others try to match their stainless barrels, with their final result going to the black, stainless, black format.

+1 for matte finish, Black matches with almost anything.

I'd go matte, and considering the XCR by design is a pefect bad weather rifle,,I'd go with a Bushnell 4200 or 6500 Elite and it's Rainguard coating

+another one for the matte. I just purchased a model 7 xcr for hunting in the rain so I went with the elite 4200. I really like the elite scopes the best for bad weather If your planning on hunting in bad weather I would recommend looking into these.

Looks like most people feel like matte is the way to go. I think matte might be the better choice now that I think about it because it will match just about any rifle if for some reason I decide swap it to another rifle down the road.
