I want to buy a new scope for my 30-06 rifle and the clearest most reasonable scope I have found is the nikon buckmasters 3-9-50 scope. Nikon carries a full lifetime warranty. This scope is clear and sharp. Do you think this will be a good choice?

Give us your budget for your new scope.  It's kinda like shopping with your wife/girlfriend...let everyone know how much you wish to invest and you will get many options.  Nikon buckmasters are good scopes, but depending on how much you want to spend you can get more for about the same $.

while the buckmaster is nice i would recommend something like this
for $200 you get a nikon monarch with a different name and a better scope

what exactly do you mean, "clearest most reasonable scope I have found"?   did you find others that were just as clear or more clear, but they weren't reasonable?  Tell us what "reasonable" means to you.  How do you intend to use your -06?
take em!

I agree with pyro. I have one of these, and they are very nice. A Bushnell elite 4200 is always a good choice for not a lot of money also. These have rainguard, and come with a free rain coat.

+1 for Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 at $200, This is a Monarch at close out prices which is a step up from the Buckmaster

++1 for the Bushnell 4200 3-9x40 at $250, another great closeout deal.

The Bushnell has rainguard and the Nikon has more eye relief.  The 3-9x40 Zeiss Conquest is also great but just a little more $$ than these 2 listed.

I have 400 acres to hunt in sw georgia. some of my longest shots will be around 100 yds. or less unless I am hunting in our back field and then I can easily shoot 250 yds. I have looked at some nikon pro staff scopes and some bushnell elite 3200 scopes. I really couldn't tell a whole lot of differeance in these scopes but I did not get to carry them outside and look through them either. I do not want to spend over $300 dollars so I am looking at the nikon buckmaster scope in 3-9-50. What are the advantages and disadvantages of buying a 40mm scope or a 50 mm scope.

if you only want to spend $300 buy a 4200 elite 3x9 or a team primos 3x9 both under $300 and both are way better than the prostaff

..............With a 50mm, you gain a marginal light gathering advantage but at a cost of more expense, scope weight and a higher profile.

Due to lower profile and less weight, I prefer the 40mm and smaller objectives! No real clear advantage in success or failure with a 50mm vs a 40mm.

Thunbs%20Up  Both will let you hunt in low light conditions nearly as well as many scopes costing twice the money.
