My opinion would be to go with the 4200, while I believe they're a toss up optically, the bushnell offers you rain guard and a free jacket.

For the $599 for the Elite, I think I would buy the Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 from samplelist.com. Otherwise probably the elite. The Monarchs are nice also, but don't believe there is a noticeable difference between the two.

9145 Zeiss 4.5-14x44 Conquest 5214309920, Matte finish, Z-plex reticle, 1" tube, side focus, fast focus eye piece, light ring marks $875.00 $599.95

Doesn't the Monarch have more eye relief than the 4200?

martin didn't mean to imply 4200 eye relief was bad just giving information to be considered for an informed purchase. Another issue to be considered is Monarch is 42 and the 4200 is 40 mm obj lens. I like both and would choose based on which is better priced.

It is a toss up based on all I've been able to see. Which ever one offers what options you are looking for at the most reasonable price is the winner.
I will say though that warranty is also something to look at. Bushnell takes that contest.

If you want to go the ebay route then search for SWFA, and then look at their store there.
Happy bidding.

Oooh, since judging a quality difference between the two is really a tossup - maybe the free rain jacket you get with the 4200 will push you over the edge. Yippee

....said with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

I don't think you can go wrong with either; however, and this is anecdotal evidence here... , I've seen more positive posts on the Internet about the 4200 line than on the monarch line in recent months.

Optcially speaking they are equally close. I would chose the Nikon since it offers more eye relief.  Aesthetically speaking and features involved becomes a personal choice.

Always run from a fight...but if they catch you deliver them to hell personally.

They don't have to give jackets away to sell Monarchs ... if a company has to give freebie crap to get buyers ... does'nt that tell ya something ?  Just my opinion .....  Light%20It%20Up
