Help me scope my win. M70 XTR in .264. I'm thinking Bushnell 4200 4x16,or Leupold VXII,Nikon Monarch?

264 's seem to be making a bit of a comeback. My gunsmith swears by it. He has taken everything from Sika deer to Kudus with a 264 Win Mag.. +1 on the 4200 Elite -the rainguard could be a hunt saver

Sorry, no sale. I actually have not even taken possession of it yet, just bought it. I'm leaning toward the Bushnell.

i find it intresting that remington and ruger are currently chambering rifles in the caliber, i think people are starting to realize that the .264 isnt as much of a barrel burner as they used to think it was.

4200 good......... Zeiss Conquest better! Also, Conquest has 4" of eye relief... even more better with the Mag! (note: only 3-9X40 has the 4") Nikon Monarch good....... VXII - Not so good |

dont need it the .264 doesnt kick any more than a .270, the only thing i really like about the conquest over the 4200 is the reticle in darker conditions on the zeiss is easier to see

I like the 4200 for rainy days and the conquest for sunny days. Just another excuse to buy another rifle.

I also have great interest in the .264, I have never owned or shot one, but it will probably be the next rifle I choose to buy. |

I'd look at the Sightron Big Sky. Supposed to be on par with the others and has a rain type coating on them if I'm not mistaken.

Hey, can you tell what the basic differences are between the .260 Rem and the .264 Mag? I know the .260 is based on the .308 case, what is the .264 Mag based on? Does it use the 30-06 case?

.458 win mag case, shortened a bunch, its the same size of the 7mm rem mag case, and about 200fps faster with a 140gr bullet than the .260 is Edited by pyro6999 - October/06/2008 at 16:37 |
