Will an old (1960's) Remington SA BDL stock fit my new Remington CDL SF in 300 WSM? Would my fluted 300 WSM barrel be to large for an old short action stock and if so would it hold up to the pounding of a WSM cartridge?
Thanks,
Sam

Current WSM's have a wider contour and the barrel channel for a traditional S/A will have to be opened up

Laminate is generally stronger, better for suited for cold and wet weather, shouldn't warp, doesn't fade or need much care. |

My recently completed project Rem 700 .308 Win LVSF in a laminated Nutmeg stock with a blackened forend tip ( same stock would fit a 300WSM ) The stock is from a Boone and Crocket Remington 700 , which I believe is supplied by Boyds. I got it from Stocky's via online auction. I like traditional wood ( purdy ) ,laminated ( purdy , stable, but a little heavy)wood , and composite stocks ( stable, generally lighter, but lack the "warmth" of wood) . Each has its place . In fact, I kept the stock that originally the pictured rifle came with "just in case" I change my mind on this one ( although I probably won't).

Them brown laminate stocks sure do look good on a rifle. I got a stainless marlin .22 mag with one. I did have a ruger .270 with one but it had to find a new home so I could try something new.
