I need 2 new scopes. One will be on a lightweight rig but it is a fast .300 and could use some high end power. The other will be on a .257 wby that will not quite be as light but I still want to stay around 17-18 ozs for weight. I have looked at several different options and can spend about $800 each. Here are what I have looked at. Any input appreciated.
Kahles helia CL 3x9x42 with multi zero-heard great things but unsure about company Swaro AV series-3x9x36 and 3x10x42, how do these scopes compare to the Kahles-better I would assume but how much? Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40, and 4.5.x14x44 IOR Valdada 2.5x10x42 a little heavy and this is what concerns me about this one Thanks Guys, my first post here but I have been keeping up and reading for years. Which are you considering for what rifle? What applications for the rifles?

I am looking to keep the .300 rather light (~7-7.25lbs all up) with shooting distances to about 400 yds. It will be more of mountain type application. The .257 will be a little heavier (7.5-8lbs all up) and shooting distances may be a little longer for yotes and antelope and such. I am thinking about 4.5-14 Conquest for this one. Thanks again.

I have the Kahles CL 3-10X50 and the class is incredible... wish the plex reticle was a little thicker. Not sure what's going to happen to company, but I don't think the service end will just go away. Hopefully Swaro backs it up. I also have a Conquest 3-9X40 and its great too!
Not sure if this is different or the same as the AV, but this might be a great buy off the Samplelist:
and this would be perfect for your .257

I have a Kahles 3.5-10X50 and the 3-9X36 Swaro. The Swaro is great for lightweight applications. The Kahles has amazing glass as does the Swaro and the Conquest. I would go with the Swaro for the .300 and the Conquest 4.5-14 on the .257.

that was kind of what I was thinking but had heard really good things about the Kahles and IOR. The Kahles above is only 1 oz heavier than than the Swaro and generally is a little cheaper. I think I will definitely go with the Zeiss for the .257, just need to make up my mind on the other one. Tough call and I'll probably be happy with either.

I agree with CFII's choices.
Tip, the Sample List Swaro 3-9X36 "American Lightweight" is the same scope as the 3-9X36 AV.
Ebby, I would buy that scope listed on the Sample List that Tip69 references, as that's a great price! It may have light ring marks, but I'll take that very minor cosmetic tradeoff for the considerable price savings.

I have seen that one as well. Looks like a great deal. I am thinking I may want a 3-10x42 AV though. Anybody got one of those to sell? Chris, got any to add to the sample list?

I must have a strong arm .... never could tell the difference of 1-2 ounce weight on a scope ??? if someone's arm is going to buckle with 2 more ounces on the mounts .... wellllll .....

That was my point as well. I am not so concerned on shedding every ounce, but I want something lightweight and all of those are within a few ounces of each other except for the IOR which is 8ozs (1/2lb) heavier than the Swaro's and Kahles.

Agreed. All would be nice choices, and I too am unsure about Kahles now. I know they have a great product and would love to own one, but want to see how things shake out with them. Whatever you decide though, it would be hard to go wrong with The Swaro, or Conquest. The Kahles with multizero has me very interested though. I may have to risk it, and just buy one.

Yeah, both guns are flat shooters and it may be nice to have multiple zeroes for long range stuff. I am at a loss to decide but know that I can't really go wrong.

I prefer the Kahles actually as the crosshair is just a little heavier and I think the multizero feature just sinches the deal. I also really like the Rapid Z1000 reticle on the Conquest 4.5-14 so you might think about buying two of them and put one on each one.
