I use powerbelt bullets.  And hodgdon triple seven powder.  I just take my barrel off and run a bunch a really hot water down the barrel to clean it out.  Then a few patches and I am good to go.

I usually shoot 150, but I think I am going to back down to 100.  It is more accurate.

We can use a scope, but it cannot have magnification.

I feed both my Encores ( have a stainless barrel topped with an Elite 4200 1.5-6 for the wood stocked model on the left ) . I feed them both 2x50gr and a 30 gr pellet  ( 130 total) off 777 . I use 250 gr Hornady bonded rounds in their easy glide sabot. I regularily get 1.5 moa at 100 yds with them . Cleaning chores consist of  pre - soaked T/C  and a dry patch  twice between each shot , and a good cleaning of the same and a quick run through of some BP specific plastic solvent once the day is done .I follow that up with a run through of pine scented bore butter . I also bought some BP specific bore foam, but have not tried it . Given I won't be able to get out this fall do to knee reconstruction, maybe next year I will see how it works.
I really like to Black powder hunt , and hope to use my traditional 58 Zuave next fall ..should be fun to work a load up for that 58 cal smoke pole. Big%20Grin

You could always buy a Savage 10ML and use smokeless powder and not clean your muzzleloader any more often than you would clean any other rifleBig%20Smile

I use 2 triple 7 magnum pellets which is the equivelant of 150 grains of 777 in my older Winchester bolt X-150 fluted barrel muzzleloader.  My bullet of choice is the Scorpion PT Gold 260 gr. polymer tip bullet.  I have scoped my rifle with an older Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14-x40 without the side focus.  I might be bragging but I can have five shots touch one another at 100 yards, and at the local gun club I can hit the silhoutte ram at 300 meters.  I usually clean up with a black powder bore cleaner (the name of which eludes me), a bore brush and enough patches to clean the bore.  I have a spare breech plug which I swap with the dirty one so I can soak it to clean the dirty one.  To store gun until next season, I clean just a little more aggressively and when bore is clean, I run a couple of oiled patches to ensure it won't rust and leave the breech plug out to let the barrel "breathe".  I have never had any problem with rust like a couple of hunting buddies have experienced .  Hope this helps.

I have a Omega 50 cal, with a 3-9x40 4200 with talleys. I shoot 2 - 50gr pellets of 777, barnes spitfire 245gr  and use the 777 209 primers. I usually get 1.5 inch groups. I clean between every shot with the TC presoaked patches and sometimes spray gun scrubber down the barrel too, then 2 dry patches. after every range session I run a  bore brush.

now this year for ML season in LA and MS we can use a 45-70, sooo I bought a H&R handi rifle 45-70 $239.00 with the thumb extension $10.00, talley rings $52.00 and a 3-9x40 4200 $250.00, 1 box of Hornady leverloution 325gr bullets $29.00  - if you can't beat em, join em.

I like that PYRO, :-)

not sure about the standard weight, shooting at deer I like a 250 +/- gr bullet. for bigger game I would assume a larger gr is needed.
