HI guys...

I'm pretty sure I'm right here...but would like to know what you guys think.

I say: a scope can handle the recoil on a 1000fps spring driven airgun, it will also be able to handle the recoil on your large centre fire rifles but NOT the other way round.

This in my view is due to the "simultanesous apposing Recoil" generated by a springer. This means that your scope is being pulled in opposite directions almost at once (split second diff).

Any views on this?

You're right on target with your assessment.  Many good scopes can handle the recoil of hard kicking firearms, but disintegrate on a spring piston air rifle.  That is because those scopes are designed to withstand the recoil in one direction.  Airgun capable scopes must be able to withstand recoil from both directions.

You are correct. My Webley Patriot has done it's share of damage, especially on mounts.
