I was not involved in this accident, but I know both people involved.  One was my roommate in Oregon, and one was a fellow Montanan.  Both walked away with only minor injuries after the helicopter rolled twice.  They were trying to land on a mountain top and encountered a downdraft.  It created a low rotor rpm stall that they could not stop before hitting the ground.  Thank God they are ok.  I flew many hours in this helicopter, and flew with my roommate.  He was a good instructor, and I can report that he has a job still.

Made by the same company, but smaller.  It is a 2 seat version.  The R22.  I flew that particular helicopter quite a bit before I came back out to Montana.  I am now flying a R44.  A four seat helicopter.  It give you a weird feeling when a helicopter you have flown goes down.  And to know both people involved.  Could have been me, I have landed on the spot they crashed!

I admit, it's a weird feeling when somebody you knows goes down, worse when they don't make it out.  Had a guy I knew from pilot training buy it about 2 years ago.  Definitely makes you grab the stick tighter next time you fly.

When some of the operators sent parts back to Helicomb for repair it is amazing how much damage the helicopters can take. Some of the ones from Hawaii would have holes burned in them from flying too low inside the volcano's. More balls than brains.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.
