Ted! You have some nice wood in there. Your play room must be like going to the Jim Davis gun museum.

As to Conetrols not holding, you must have a very small tube scope.(1"/30mm are not always the same brand to brand) Is it super clean and the rings too?
Then try some rosin on the rings. SK rings are also available in high gloss and are 1 piece and tighten more than a Conetrol. Having used both brands on some serious rifles (300 WB mag, 340 WB mag and 375 H&H) with scopes of reasonable weight with no problem. If you put a 30 ounce scope on a hard kicker you might have an issue. Good shooting. |

Hey, Timber, what rings did you end up going with? Got any pics of the completed rifle?

I apologize. I had a major computer problem - still not completely solved. And I have in fact been getting ready for hunting season. We've had alot of logging in our lease (that's right, Florida) so we're changing many of our stands. On the one hand it's interesting because it's almost like hunting new lands. But the timing has been terrible.
Access to our rifle range is limited during hunting season so I may have to wait until mid-February to finish the 700/Leupold Custom Shop. I am researching Conetrol though and will post when I decide on something. Thanks for your patience. |
