Well I finally found an Ingram that had just about everything I was looking for. I bought this #5 which has a 3 inch blade of S30V stainless steel, premium spalted maple scales and mosaic pins.

Thank you, Dogger. Believe it or not, the guy I bought this one from has more than 30 of them. Hey, they are nice, but 30......that is a sickness far as I'm concerned. OK, I could see 25 or so, but not 30.......grin

Nice knife. Have you tried to sharpen it yet?

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Nope, it's brand new, apparently a safe queen and sharp as a razor.

I have a small Spyderco C80 knife in S30V. Holds an edge extremely well, better than my knives with 154CM blades. Ususally all that is required is just a light touch up on my alumina silica stones.

Both the Charles May knives I ordered are going to be made with S30V as well. I spoke with lots of guys who own Ingram's and May's and they all seem to feel that S30V was the way to go as far as edge holding abilities are concerned. Me, don't know sh*ttt about either D2 or S30V. Just sounded like S30V was preferred if given a choice. As far as sharpening, alot of guys use the Lansky system as one of the angles closely matches the angle both Ingram and May use. I've used the Lansky system on Buck and Gerber knives and you can get a knife really sharp if you go all the way down to their extra fine stone.

Absolutely gorgeous knife, Roy -- truly first-class all the way! I'm really envious!
I too use the Lansky kit. It takes awhile, but I've been able to put a shaving sharp edge on blades more easily with it than with other style sharpeners.

Your maple is a lot better than the example on his website. Very Nice.
