The price seems to be similar considering the Millett comes with rings.
Will either hold up on a 338 Lapua? I like the reticle on both, and if one of these scopes will hold zero and adjust fine, I can sacrifice some glass quality for $500 of reloading supplies. |

For a 338 Lapua you need something that will take abuse - to me that sounds like a Super Sniper 10x or 16x or 20x any of which can be had for $299. You should consider Badger Ordnance rings. If I had to pick between the Millett and the Menace I would use open sights.

And upon what experience with the Menace do you base that statement? |

The Millett is tested to the 50 bmg and if it doesn.t hold true it doesn't leave the company. That is part of the companies computer testing on all of their scopes that they advertise as such.

I want a variable for sure. No knock on the Super Sniper for price, but I'd like better glass.

Not quite (unless they changed it). Millett scopes are tested on an equivalent of 60 round machine gun burst of 30-06. Either way Millett TRS-1 that I have had a lot of hands on time with seemed very durable. ILya |

There is nothing wrong with wanting a variable. One question about Super Sniper though: the glass that you did not like, when was the scope made? Super Sniper glass was changed a couple of years ago and is quite good, especially for the price. ILya |

Yes thank you Ilya. I did miss quote. Must be the Chinese connection made me say that. They are tested under simulated computer controlled testing. I apologize for the mis-leading, it was not intentional.

I do not know the year of SS it was.
I may try a Millett, if it doesn't work or stand up I can always get my money back. BUT, I'll keep an eye out for good deals on used for a month or so. |
