This will be a curve ball. I am in need of a scope for outlaw turkey shoots. Distance being shot is 20 yds. The target is the size of a match head. Sounds easy-HA. I need good sight picture. High magnification is a must. Wide field of view is not a priority. Durability and tracking are most important. Price is another major factor (less than $500). Any suggestions?

Leupold has a 12 x40 target scope for 530 dollars. That should have the parallax reset at some point. Would that be close enough? The next step up would be 25 and another hundred. The 16x Super Sniper is also a thought that may be more inline with your budget. What are people using now?

Scopes in use now vary- everything from cheap variable power Tascos to some higher end Leupolds. I have witnessed the recoil taking its toll on many scopes. They cant maintain zero. On a weekend, the gun will fire 100-200 times.

Ok, I have to ask the devils advocate questions. How are you telling that this not maintaining Zero is result of the scope(s)? Is it just the barrels heating up? Are poor mounts the problem? Are the mounts cutting loose? What about bedding issues? Most shotguns are just unscrew and pull apart (we return the barrel heat stuff). You are tring to hit speck with a grain of pepper while you have all the normal issues of no two rounds pattering "perfectly" the same. There is alot to go wrong... Luck has a higher factor in that game.

Not maintaining zero-- moving from one side of the target to another at random
Barrel maintaing constant temperature between shots
Quality mounts-Leupold
Glass bedded stock
1 1/2 bull barrel, not a sporting goods store set-up
Holes in target are 3/4 inch diameter
