Ten minutes ago, I received a long distance phone call from my long time shooting friend`s wife (my neighbors), who are currently vacationing in Hawaii.

Approx. 1 hour ago, my long time neighbor Walter, who has been my close shooting bud for years, and a Ruger lover, collapsed and died due to an apparent heart attack shortly after their dinner together, while still in a Honolulu restaurant. He was 68.

Needless to say, I will now be keeping my Ruger Alaskan, which he was going to buy from me after my 375 Ruger Howa M1500 came in. That Howa order will now be cancelled.

Close family members will be on their way to Honolulu ASAP! This is their time and as such, I will not be going over.

Per Hawaiian law, an routine autopsy must be conducted before the his body can be flown back to So. Calif. for the funeral.

Sorry to hear that, Squeeze.  It is very distressing to think that life can be gone in a blink.  My dad died at 68.  The family was in total shock for a long time.

Thanks guys!...............Talking with her today and according to his wife, the autopsy will be completed by this late this afternoon. Then he`ll be released by the coroner and moved to a local Honolulu funeral home for preparation there.............The casket, along with the several family members who are there now, will be flown back to So. Cal. this weekend on the same plane. Then to a local funeral home here until funeral services sometime next week......American Airlines is arranging everything for the return, at apparantly little charge!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Big Squeeze. I've lost a few myself, so I know it's a shock. Hang in there. My prayers are with you and your friend's family.

It is very difficult to lose a good friend, and shooting buddies are rare gems.
 You have my condolences, Squeezer.

Sorry to hear the news Squeezer, that sucks.

That sucks for those that he leaves behind..... Just take solace in knowing that he is better off not having to endure the things that we all must.... He is home now, and can finally rest.
Our hearts and thoughts are with you Squeezer, and prayers for his family are going to go up.
