For a collector gun yes. For a shooter, no. I'll take the modern metallurgy for the shooter.
The 1886 is a much nicer gun than a 1895 Marlin. I like the Marlins a lot since I am a 336 guy. But, the Browning takes the lever gun too a higher level in looks and feel. The checkering is very good on those particular guns and the metal " carving" is typical of all the Japanese Brownings I have..............very good.

I'm with Tahqua on this, If I were collecting, this would be a nice quality piece to have but a collection needs the origonal. This one was built in the early 90's and is well able to handle anything you want to feed it. I hunt all my guns in what ever conditions, but this one would require some exception. I think the guy may work with me on it if no one takes action in the next week or so. Time will tell.
Take care of Soldiers, Show em how its done and do it with em, Run to the Fight & and hold your ground! I die my men go home! If you're a NCO and this ain't you. GET OUT! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
