Is the Nikon Team Primo, that SWFA is offering for 199.95, with it? I just want a scope for a Mini-14 for around 200yds. I do not hunt and just punch holes in paper.

The BDC reticle thats on the Primos Monarch, is not ideal for target shooting, due to its size. Great reticle for shooting varmints on the fly, but a little busy for shooting groups.
I would recommend a duplex style reticle for the application you described.
The killer SWFA sale going on now with the 3-9 4200 would be better, IMO.

I am brand new to rifle hunting. I live in jersey and its a communist state we can only hunt w shot guns and muzzle loaders. I just bought a Tikka T3 lite 270 for deer hunting in PA this season. Would you recommend this scope for my rifle and my needs? thanks in advance

Welcome to Optics Talk, allman.
Yes, the 3-9x 4200 at SWFA is a great choice for deer hunting.
It also offers Rain Guard, which the guys on here claims works like a charm.
The Tikka T3 is a nice rifle as well.

I apologize in advance, but I've never scoped a Mini-14.
This what I came up with. Maybe some other members can recommend something better.
Warne is pretty much considered good to go, so I doubt you will be disappointed with your purchase if you should choose my recommendation.

Mark!?!?!? Are you getting over that Nikonitis????? Recommending a Bushy over a Nikon..........My world, the way I knew it, has just ended........
Serioiusly Jmfs, This is a solid recommendation for the target application. We definitely want to hear your thoughts about it once it is set up.
Allman, the Nikon would work for you for the hunting, especially if you have some extended ranges available.

Just went with the Bushnell due to it's duplex style reticle, which in the original posters stated uses, would be better than the Nikon's BDC for shooting paper.
Optically and mechanically, I think the Monarch and the 4200 are nearly a draw.
Although...........my BDC reticle did OK for shooting groups.
Best of luck on your new scopes, Gentlemen.

Same here pyro ... and just to make sure I carry a few anti-fog wipes in my pocket ... which also clean the lenses . But never needed them for fogging . I don't go shooting in the rain ... LOL . Nikons are waterproff .... all and a litle hint ... pin a softner - dryer cloth folded on your hat and it'll keep them dang gnats away .
A busnell over a Nikon ..... !

For my old eye I really like the 4200, it has been great, but in all fairness I have to tell you that last year durning deer season I was hunting this day with my 7x57 w/ Zeiss Conquest 3x9. There was about 5 mins of light left when the nicest 10 point buck that I have seen in a few years walked out into a small clearing 175 yds away. The scope is what allowed me to make a clean killing shot IMHO........I also learned my leason about CHEAP BINOS that year
