I am currently trying to decide between two scopes. It will be used on a .223 varmint gun. Shots will be anywhere from 100 to 400 yds. The two scopes are:
Burris Fullfield 6-18X40
Nikon Monarch UCC 5.5-16.5X44
The Burris scope is slightly used and the Manarch is Brand new, but a close out model ( No side focus) Only about 50 bucks difference in price. What would you guys suggest? Is there a big quality difference? I am not famillar with either scope. Any help you guys can give is much appreciated.

Monarch will be a touch brighter and optically prove to have better resolution,,,both are good scopes, but I'd give the nod to the Nikon

Thanks for all the replies! Well it's pretty much a done deal on the Nikon. My trade is on it's way to SWFA. Now if somebody could help me track down a gloss sunshade for it, I'd be really happy! Thanks again guys!

+1 That nikon beats the fullfield, but a Sig Sel would be a different story.

It's real easy to do. I would post the link for the sun shade, matte or lustre (gloss), that I found in about 30 seconds but it's a SWFA competitor. SWFA doesn't list one for the model you want but I'm betting they could get it for you. It's worth a call. http://www.swfa.com/contact.aspx |
