Joe, I'm not sure what bullet your thinking about shooting, but my old .300 "Sin"dero shot 180gr. Hornady BT's (and others) extremely well using RL 25 and Federal 215 primers.
Most .300 RUM's I have witnessed, liked Reloder 25 and IMR 7828.
I also tried H-1000 and Retumbo with unsatisfactory results.
Hope this helps.

there is no best load, cause the load that works well in cheaps rifle more than likely wont shoot as well in yours, thats why you gotta spend time in developing a load for your rifle

Were you considering any factory loads ? In my Browning Stainless Stalker, Remington 180gr Scirocco II 's perform fantastic, with consistent grouping and plenty stopping power/ penetration with its bonded design.. but as previously stated..you're gonna need some range time to determine what works in your rifle specifically
