    Posted: July/08/2008 at 11:30
I have an old Remington Speedmaster .22 long rifle and I'm having a difficult time finding a Red Dot style scope, not too expensive, to put on top in order for me to start teaching my son how to shoot a rifle.

The problem is that this rifle has a Weaver style rail on the top to use scope rings or any Weaver style mount, but it's only 7/16" wide.

Can someone help me with what I need to look for to find something that will fit on this small rail?

Thanks, Yammer

That was my first rifle.  To clean it, you pull the barrel from the receiver, thus you change the zero everytime you clean it.  It should come with iron sights.  Several people have learned to shoot with those.  Thunbs%20Up

Thanks, but I know all about that.  I want to put a red dot scope on it.

http://www.swfa.com/pc-4210-664-bsa-red-dot-30mm-scope.aspx This one uses the 3/8 base. Its not bad for a rimfire. I put it on a Ruger MK III for a while. Then went back to open sights. I felt the open sights were faster to acquire.

Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

Thank you very much, that's exactly what I'm looking for.  Good to start teaching with.
