I just bought a Mark 4 10X and it says it has multicoat 4 coatings and the 3.5x10 mark 4 scope says they have index matched lenses. What is the difference and why don't the fixed 10x have the same lense coatings? Thanks, Catt_tracker

There are two versions of the Mark 4 10x one has the M1 knobs which are 1/4 moa per click and the other has the M3 knobs which are 1moa per click elevation and 1/2 moa per click windage. These scopes were designed for the military and are a very rugged combat optic able to take extreme abuse. Many scopes in the Leupold line have been changed and upgraded over the years. Some of the new scoped do have indexed matched lenses, and eaven if yours doesnt it is still a very high quality scope and will have more internal adjustment than the 3.5-10. So my take on it is this - I traded in my 10x M3 toward a FFP 3.5-10 which I like better. But the M3 knobs were lower profile and idiot proof so it goes to personal preference.
Actually I like a little more power on the high end and a 4.5-14 or a 6.5-20 is very appealing. Edited by Urimaginaryfrnd - July/07/2008 at 02:16 |
