My Wife and Daughters chipped in and got me a Remington 700 SPS in 243 Winchester. Now I need another scope. Money is tight as I am getting over a recent heart surgery. Any recomendations for a good scope for this Remington? It will be used for Target shooting out to 600 yds and The occasional Varmint inside the obove mentioned distance. Fixed power or varieable? Im leaning towards another Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14X 40.
What say you good gentelman? I have time, Its getting bedded and a jewel trigger installed. That ate up my spare money for a month or two.

Congrats on your new rifle!
I looked rather intently at a Remington SPS at a gun shop a few hours ago myself.
How much money (max) do you have to spend, friend?
I would say definitely a variable scope for the shooting you mentioned.

If your happy with your existing nikon, purchase another. I think this is a reasonable good choice for the weapon intended, Happy shooting.

Well between the time I posted this topic and now My FNG called and said the rifle is Done. So in the AM It will be here, Scopeless....but it will be here with an 10 OZ trigger and a bedding job.
All I have right now to spend is about $100.00 bucks.

I suggest you wait till you can spend more. It is a fine rifle and requires a decent scope. Take the scope off the other rifle for now and go shoot with it for a while. A few bullets to zero the rifle is better then a $100 wasted on a cheap scope.

Problem solved. I forgot I had ordered a 10X Super Sniper from SWFA a few months back and put it in the back of the safe in the basement. Found it this AM while looking for something else..... Now all I need is a good set of 30mm rings. |

TJ, How do you forget you have a Super Sniper unopened in the basement?? I have never been that "scope rich". I have 3 rifles sitting around unscoped right now "hot swapping" when I want to shoot them.
If you find any more, just lying around, please keep me in mind for a "deal". |

Scope rich? No. Just forgetful. I had been meaning to order one and did, Evidently It came while i was in hostpital and the wife put it in the safe down stairs for me. We both forgot it was even ordered.
I am going to install it on my AR and take the Nikon that was on the AR and put it on the Remington SPS Varmint.
Its my first Super Sniper by the way. Hope it dont let me down as so many scopes have in the past.

Now it looks like it's time to start saving up for a 16x Super Sniper for the SPS, since the 10x went on the AR.

16X is alittle extreme for me. If it were a Vareiable that started @ 4.5 and went up to 16X, I might consider it.

Glad you "found" the scope you were looking for. I rushed to my safe and searched all over for some long forgotten hidden gem, but no such luck!
Enjoy your setup.
