I need a scope $180 max,

Savage Model 10FP-LE2A .308, I need a scope for target shooting up to 200 yds,  I know nothing about scopes. Is this what I need for power? What do you recommend for power (200yds paper target) & brand? Would the SS 10x42 be good for 100 - 200 yrd target shoothing?

Bushnell Banner 6-24x40  or

BSA 6-24x40

the BSA sucks terribly, and the bushnell isnt too much better, but actually holds zero, my vote goes for the SS10X42.

I know money is always a issue but you should never skimp on optics you usually get what you pay for either up front or on the tail end and I found this out the hard way
I know this is not what you or most want to here but if you spend some time searching you can get a descent price on good glass, I also have a Savage 10FLP and I put a Leupold 4.5x14x40 MK4 PR with STD 2pc mount and rings and have not regretted it at all now it about 3 time what you want to pay but as I said you get what you pay for you may want to look at the Burris Signature or Black Diamond Series as well as Leupold and once you get it mounted you will bee amazed how well you will do with the Savage they are tack drivers out of the box at least mine is with the right ammo and right glass you can do sub-moa groups at 250yrds.

Get the 10X for sure.

The leupold Standard rings and bases will "getirdone" just fine.

Bases:

LEU55742- For a 2 piece.

LEU55724- For a 1 piece

Rings:

LEU49956- For the Mediums

LEU49959- For the High's

The elite is a good scope for the money. Go to the range without your gun and find out what other shooters are using at whatever range you want to shoot. Ask why they chose that scope, listen to what they say. If they could would they stay with the scope they are using and why? Most shooters with let you know and see what they see through their scope, especially if you tell them what you are going to mount it on. Don't hurt to try.

The Bushnell Elite is within your stated budget.  The Super Sniper is $299, which is well over your budget.  The 3200 Elite is not "skimping" on optics as some have suggested. The Bushnell 3200 Elite line of scopes are very solid in terms of optics and durability.  You will not be disappointed with the Bushnell.

$180 max is a really tough budget.  I'd say collect cans an bottles or do whatever it takes to come up with the extra hundred for the SS10X.

Definately the 10X not the 16 or the 20.
