Can someone explain the difference between these two binocs clarity/contrast wise? Are there any other binoculars under $500 that are any good?

I don't actually have these, but I do have an IOR monocular and the optics are very good.  Typical for IOR.  They are just a bit over $500 @$525 but I bet they would be a pretty nice Bino.  Not as pretty as some of them now days but an option.

The market for "under-$500" binoculars is absolutely saturated with good products.  Nikon, Bushnell, Leupold, Vortex, Pentax, Minox, Brunton, Burris, etc. all make quality offerings in this price category.

The choice is yours.

They are the same binocular optically.  Vortex may have went after a birder's market with the Broadwing.  The only difference may be that the Broadwing may have a faster focus wheel.  Since I've never had them side by side, I really don't remember how fast each was.  Very good for the price, whichever way you go.  The mane and colors of the binocular are probably the only difference.

Thanks for the replys. One more question how much better is the Vortex Viper than the Vortex Broadwing?

Oops!  I should have paid more attention.  When I saw Broadwing, I somehow thought Talon, which are the same as the Diamondback.  The Broadwing should be a better binocular than the Diamondback.  I have a Viper10x42 and they (8x and 10x) are as good as $500 gets you.

Quite a bit, though I never found the Viper. The Diamondback, Vortex name, is a bit dim or the colors are not that bright. I had the 8x to check out, so it should have been brighter. Sharpness in bright light was OK.

Viper compares to Pentax 10x42 SP etc. A level up. Even from Nikon Monarch.
