CounterSniper Optics
Has anyone here had any time behind one these? I'd buy one but I would have to sell my truck first, to get the one I want. Edited by Chris Farris - June/04/2008 at 16:07 |

They have counter sniper crusader scopes on mid-ways site and the 4-16
model goes for $379. Where on the Counter sniper web site it goes from
$450 to $3200 . Those who rated them are giving them mixed reviews.
A guy had one at one of my precision rifle classes and it did not do to well. He was fighting his zero all weekend and I don't think it passed the box test. I wouldn't waste money on one. |

The impressions of people who have used these have been mixed at best.
As for me personally, I have not used one, but they pretty much lost me on the following phrases (off of their website): Bertrillium-Zantitium™ water/ice displacement coating Ion-charge for ant-static dust displacement Proprietary rare earth/nitrogen gas purged hard earth sealed Translation: all of those phrases imply that the scope will go its Bertrillium-Zantitium tits up at the worst possible moment and you will have to hire a bloody Sherlock Holmes to find the snake oil salesmen who sold you the damn thing in the first place. I'd love to be wrong on this one, but they are not seeing a dime of my money until some reputable people look at these. ILya |

Their distributer seems to have a cell phone 866.883.9444 number in Springfield Mo. but no address there. The area code for Springfield for landlines is 417 , must be more secret military stuff.

Ion charge to repel ant-static? Does that work on fire ants?
Contract over run? What's the NSN?

I've seen their ads in a few shooting mags, and after my b.s.-o-meter started redlining upon reading how the thing was made of fricken kryptonite, I saw the price tag at the bottom of the page and wondered "what idiot would pay that for an obscure tactical scope when you can buy a very good USO or S&B for much less?" Their lingo sounds like something concocted by a used car salesman (no offense to used car salesmen).

Anti-mirage???? does that mean it don't like it ...or just ignores it?? I'd have to pass on a scope that comes with "Gov Issued" on it....my experience (humble that it is) with Gov Issue items is ....OVER PRICED--Under Achiever products..
+ 1 on the snake oil salesman..

Oh ! I forgot the 5000g rating.....that means I could drag it behind my 68 Ram-Air Firebird on a 12.05 run...and it would still ignore the Mirage?

5000g rating? Sorry, I missed that one. 75+ g's is hard for IC's to withstand. Must be that new metal they are using... totally defies the laws of physics, unless it comes in a compressed glob, already, because at 5000g that's how it's going to end up. Would LOVE to see the test data on that. |

I don't know guys.... This statement alone must mean they are pretty important, maybe you are just too critical.
