I went to competitor tonight with the intention of buying the 4200 4x16x40. I looked at both the Burris Signature 4x16x44 and the 4200. As stated in a topic "Bushnell 4200 2.5x10x40 have one", when looking thru the scopes at the other side of the store on the higher powers the view is hazy and fuzzy thru the 4200, yet crystal clear thru the Burris. I walked away with the Burris.

Absolutely agree the with Squeeze >>>> Been there comparing the Burris to the Elite, and I went home with the Elite . I think Burris makes a fine , durable scope, but optically it falls slightly behind the 4200 ( especially at the crucial dawn and dusk moments ) Plus, no complaints about Rainguard's performance- it works.

I believe the fullfeild II falls behind the 4200. When it comes to the Sig Sel, I have to disagree with you. To me optically, they are the same. The only place in my opinion where the 4200 has the advantage is in the raingaurd. In fact at dusk on the comparisons I have done, he Burris did just as well as the 4200. My FF II (when i was still made in the US) does almost as well. My Black Diamond beat the 4200 easily. I will agree that he should have taken the scopes outside to do the comparison. But I think he will like the Sig Sel he got. |

I also have a FF II ( US model) , and I gotta tell ya , my 3200 Elite ( both 3x9) is slightly brighter and clearer. I stand by the 4200 when it comes to the Signature . I can't make any claims vs the Black Diamond, never given one a look see. BTW>>>looking back on the optical ratings scale:
6 - Bushnell Elite 4200, Nikon Monarch & Monarch X, Zeiss Conquest 5 - Leupold Mark 4 VX III & VX-L, Nikon Monarch Gold & Titanium, Sightron SIII 4 - Burris Black Diamond Signature Select XTR & Euro Diamond, Meopta, Pentax Lightseeker, Super Sniper, Trijicon Accupoint, Weaver Grand Slam 3 - Bushnell Elite 3200, Leatherwood, Leupold VX-II, Millet, Nikon Buckmaster, Sightron SI & SII, Vortex 2 - Burris Fullfield II & Timberline, Leupold Rifleman & VX-I, Mueller, Nikon ProStaff, Simmons, Swift I know this is just a reference, but.....

The 4200 is a better deal price wise, and the rainguard can't be beat. I have a 4200 and it is an excellent scope. I am just saying in my opinion the sig sel is as good optically. You also have to remember that the rating scale takes in to account more that just the optical quality. Part of the reason Burris is rated lower is due to their poor CS department (which I have never had a problem with). If you compared them straight optically, I bet the Burris would be rated higher. |

and you need to also realize that this table takes more into account than just optics as well, value cs dept etc is also considered when these were ranked.

Bushnell elite 4200 is blurry?ask to see another scope,Burris is my opinion is not on the same level in quality. The glass is better on the 4200.If compared both scopes inside with all that bright interior lights inside the store even a cheaper Nikon Prostaff would have been clearer.Try going outside with a couple of scopes next time.I bought a Sightron SII over a VXIII and a Nikon Monarch. It was getting dark and was able to see the differance in clarity.Good luck with your scope and next time go outside to test the scopes.
