Hello to all. New member here. I just purchaced a CZ 550 American 308. Now looking for a scope. My budget is $300. or less. I will be using the gun for long range target shooting and for whitetail here in Wisconsin. I enjoy getting out and shooting the long distance. It's been sometime since I bought a new scope. Now that I am older I am getting back into the sport. Any help / suggestions on a new scope for this weapon would be greatly apprecitaed. Thank you |

Welcome to O.T.
You can use the search function here and find that the Bushnell 3-9x40 4200 is an absolute best buy in a hunting rifle scope. http://www.swfa.com/pc-7280-185-bushnell-3-9x40-elite-4200-rifle-scope.aspx The glass is excellent for the price ($250), it is solid and looks good. A close second is the Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 with the BDC reticle. At $200 it is a steal, also. http://www.swfa.com/pc-9244-2119-nikon-3-9x40-team-primos-riflescope.aspx Nice choice for a rifle, BTW. |

Same here. Doug and Hunter beat me to the punch, as did Martin. Great gun by the way and welcome to the OT. Post some pics when you get it put together.

`Ol Lefty..............................For under $300, you go with the 3x9 Elite 4200. Perfect magnification for the 308 Win. It is the best scope out there for under $300............Go to the sample list and you`ll find my 14 month old 3x9 4200 posted for sale @ $200, which by the way, is it beautiful condition!................On my rifle, I switched over to a permanent scout scope and traded in my 4200.............

Nikon makes a couple of good scope in your price range the team promos at $199
http://www.swfa.com/default.aspx or this one is a little more but very nice
I have a CZ 550 in 22-250 and was unhappy with the mount that came it and went to the CZ picatinney rail but it raised the scope by 10 mm
I think you will love that rifle with the factory trigger, its the only rifle I have that still wears a factory trigger.

I put a Super Sniper 10x42 on my new CZ 550 .308 Varmint. I didn't set it up for a deep woods deer rifle. It is a shooter though.

Remember that old saying measure twice cut once.
I think you would be better off to spend a little more and get the Bushnell 4200 in the 4-16x40 which will make the target shooting much more enjoyable and you can still hunt with it at 4x plus the big bonus is you can get Kenton Ind. knobs for the 4-16x40

Thank you all for your input. I have not made up my mind as yet on a scope. I like both the Bushnell and the Nikon. Now you all have me thinking of scope rings. I had thought the ones supplied by CZ were pretty darn good.

If the rings you got with your CZ 550 are good I would use them, The ones I had moved a little with use and I like to swap scopes around on my rifles at the range so it was a good excuse to buy the rail.
