I've seen this comming since digital photo equipment put me out of the Photography business and took my $3500 a piece lenses and made them worth very little. I saw a Chinese military photo a while back with a digital sight mounted to the assault rifle and a helment mounted display - ie: hold the gun around the corner or over the log and shoot by aiming with the helment mounted display. Advantages like your video camera night mode let you see in the dark better than you could possibly see with the best glass and a 7mm exit eye pupil and do it a five times the power. This is the tip of the ice berg guys=====>

Wow, that sounds really cool. But it is sure going to suck when the batteries go dead or some other technical problem when you really need it.

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

This would make uploading balistics possable for the ammunition used. If it had an installed laser rangefinder then all shots could be point and shoot except for windage. Cure Interface a kestrel 4500 weather station and off you go. As near to perfect, from one position for shot placement. Almost to the point of no shooter required. Place it on a tripod and hook it up to Chris's trail cam and stay in your recliner. What are we doing?

Like it or not it sure seems to be the future.. I saw the military version on the History channel. 'If they have a lock feature I would have been in soooo much trouble as a kid when my dad downloaded the shot activated images!! YIKES!!! LMAO

I want one ..... yea right like I could afford that .... saw that show also on modern weapons of the NEAR future they said for the military . Plus did anyone see the fiber optic suits/uniforms they are developing ? Will make the soldier like that alien in the predator movie ! It'll project what's behind / other side of them almost completely invisible to an extent .

I am surprised we have not seen more of this type of scope considering how long and how good the digital cameras have been around, the military versions are very good, resiolution improving all the time.

The idea is very interesting. The possibility of making a replay to see if the shot hit the target or to use the electronics to compensate for low light.
Only problem so far is the picture quality is so low.
I belive mostly will lost their interest after having looked into one.
But this is only the first civlian atempt, and I belive they will be improved and common.

There is always some concern about making affordable electronics that can withstand repeated recoil of hunting rifles. Still, I would expect to see quite a few of these devices to hit the market. In the end I suspect we will end up with a hybrid optical electronic system with combined optical and electronic zoom. The big thing will be the amount of computing power that can be comfortably contained within such a sight. If they can use enough computing power, they can use inexpensive optics with digital distortion correction on-chip.
Ultimately, the device that will win out in the end will be a scope that can work in both passive (purely optical) and active (optoelectronic) modes. ILya |

Saw a device on ad sent to me, shows a (small) ? 5"x7" LCD screen mounted above the scope that magnifies the image a camera sees looking through the scope. The camera mounts on the scope base, and "looks) through the scope for you..line up the cross-hairs and hammer down...about $400.00 bucks if memory serves me...scope not included...
anyone get that ad in the mail as well?
