Hello all! I'm looking for some feedback on the Swarovski Z6 2-12X50. I drew a White Sands Once-In-A-Lifetime Oryx tag and my .300 Wby needs some new glass. Any thoughts or opinions would be surely welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

Excellent scope, I have the same one. I love the 2-12 power range, the FOV, glass, etc., etc. Their customer service is one of the best and it comes with the lifetime warranty on the optics.

the z6 12 is a big scope, make sure your aware of that, in size it closer to say a 6x24. its not in the slim, trim group- however for you type of hunt it would work will, but then so would a v7 with a varmit reticle.

No larger than say the top end 3-12 Zeiss or Kahles scopes where the front bell is even larger at 56mm. The front bell of my vari-x III 3.5-10x50 is actually larger than my z6's front bell. I broke in my z6 this past 2007 deer season, where we stalk, break brush, sit point, and just loved it. I do like the vx-7 suggestion with the xt or varmit reticle. |

I REALLY like my VX-7 with XT reticle in 2.5-10x45. I honestly do not see how the swaro could be hundreds better. Pm if you would like any specific info on it Edited by SAKO75 - May/13/2008 at 10:59 |

I like em, especially the 6x range. But it has a bigger Ocular (diameter) than the VX-7 - less bolt clearance. Not a problem with a Mark V but something to think about on a 90 degree bolt lift like a 700 or Model 70. Anybody seen the new 2.5-15x56 Z6? If you haven't handled a VX-7, try it. It has a real quality feel. Maybe not quite as bright as a Z-6 but close. And I'm not crazy about the wobbily focus knob on the models with side focus. Still, it's the best Leupold has made. JMHO.

I know what your saying about bolt clearance and the m700 and your right. I would think most of the Euro scopes with this design have this same challenge. |

First off, thanks for the welcome. I decided to take the plunge and order the Z6 2-12X50. I want to mount it using a Seekins rail and Tactical Precision Systems HRT rings. Any opinions on scope ring height for my 700 action. I am going to use a slightly shortened Badger tactical handle on my bolt.
