ya the verbal battles were cute, but it was amazing that their was no consensus in the ability to determine how well a rifle would shoot, using bore condition as a factor.

I don't think anyone one could predict how a barrel will shoot by looking down the tube alone. You could however see things that will make one shoot or foul badly. Beyond that, it's best guess at best.

A bore scope is still a nice tool to have. To be able to check the condition of a barrel before starting a project rifle and knowing whether it is pure trash and whether it would be more useful to re-barrel is one application. To check and see if a barrel is trashed before buying the rifle is another. Check out your lapping of a barrel. I know that making a proper cast of a chamber is more accurate, but using a flexible bore scope to evaluate your chamber at different times is helpful. As previously posted, a friend of mine gave me 3 cystoscope, two rigid and one flexible with an Olympus light source for free. All medical grade equipment and a lot more expensive to buy out right than any bore scope. A little old, but it works great. But no, I have not found any major problems on any rifles I have inspected. Maybe I just need to use it more.
