    Posted: May/09/2008 at 22:05
Im looking into buying a 2x red dot for my SKS.  I want the quick aim/ tactical aspect of a red dot, but I like the idea of a small amount of zoom.  Does anybody have any experience with any of these red dots sights?  I was looking into some of the cheaper stuff like the Hammers 2x42, or the Truglo 2x42, or Tasco  etc etc.

If anybody has any opinions, experience with any of these specifically or 2x red dots in general I would love to hear them!

Thank You!

I dislike it very much, the tube feeling is big and it's feels like looking throuh a 1" pipe that is 10" long.

May be the brand I was using (Bushnell) but agree with Technika, did not like the restricted view at all.  Perhaps others have had a better experience with other brands.

There are ways to get an illuminated dot with some low power magnification but not without spending some money. One of the ones that makes a lot of sense is :

The Aimpoint 1x with a 2 moa dot is a nice choice but no magnification, Trijicon has some very cool scopes but spendy.

Check out the ACOG's. I have a TA31F and it is the best Optic I have ever owned/used or heard of.. They have 2.5x model's and even 1.5 if you only plan on using it for close ranges.. But of the breed are the 4x models, but they work in QCB very well.. look into them at http://www.competitor.net/trijicon-rifle-scopes.html Trijicon also has a good line of dot sight's. But for a good over all Tatical optic the ACOG 4x will be your best bet from 3m to 800m

I just would not buy a cheap optic that you really can't depend on.. you can get a good doctor red dot for about 300 buck's but still not as good as an Aimpoint.. but right now the best red dot out at the time is http://www.competitor.net/trijicon-tx30-tripower-reflex-tube-sight-power-tri-30mm.html kick ass dot that you can depend on for 500 buck's.. I would take this over the top 2 out now Eotech or Aimpoint.. http://www.competitor.net/trijicon-reflex-sights.html these are also very nice.. and compact.

Now, I'm no Mini-14 fan by any stretch, but that sounds like FUN!  Bang-

A friend's father had 25000 acres (mostly cotton) with a small lake that was OVER RUN with snapping turtles...almost depleted the fish population. Dad would buy our ammo for us to bang at the turtles. We took shotguns to kill blackbirds, which fell in the lake, which enticed the turtles which made for great shooting practice.
