I received my V-9 a couple days ago and it is a great scope for the money.  I have not had a chance to mount it on my 673 guide rifle in a 6.5 Remington magnum, but will make haste of that shortly.  Meade no longer lists Weaver on their website.   www.weaveroptics.com no longer opens up.  Does anybody no what's up with Weaver.  Calling on Chris or Koshkin to fill us in.

Meade sold Weaver to ATK, (www.atk.com).  This happened just a couple days ago so nobody really knows whats going on or what the future will be for Weaver.

I remember the days when you had a Leupold, Weaver or a Redfield if you wanted the best. Times sure have changed for Redfield and Weaver. I wonder whats up for Redfield?

For Pete's sake...........What are they going to do with a competitor's name? I don't get that. I can understand a bunch of speculators wanting to revive an old famous scope brand, but I ain't getting this one at all.  This calls for the popcorn dude........Get%20Your%20Popcorn%20Ready   What are they going to do?  Advertise Redfield as "America's Optics Authority Before We Were"??? Shocked

If I were Leupold, I would either (a) create a retro-looking scope with high-end glass and market the scope as "The New Redfield," or (b) dispatch the "Rifleman" Name and make use of the trusted Redfield name and tooling for some solid entry-level (but quality) scopes.  But hey, I'm just spectating (and speculating) too.  Should be interesting to see what happens, regardless.  Who knows, we may be seeing "Redfield, by Leupold" scopes at SHOT next year.

Hmmm... interesting, and at the same time, puzzling information!

This is just another reason why I don't trust Meade and wouldn't buy any scope brand while they own it.

Didn't ATK sell Weaver to Meade in the first place?

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Did Meade keep the Simmons brand?

I believe that Meade did keep Simmons.  Here is an article about it http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/ticker/article.aspx?Feed=PZ&Date=20080421&ID=8515416&Symbol=MEAD

Seems as though they want to concentrate on their "core brands"

Yea and it won't feel good either .... what leupold's  gonna produce same scopes and just change the wording imprinted on them ..... why else would they want the dies and equipt. ?  They sure as heck don't need them . Sounds fishy to say the least ! Another corporate screw the public --- Cool  ?
