Thinking Outside the Box, Again
by Colonel Bob Pappas, USMC, Retired Now and then one feels the urge to prognosticate, that moment seized me again and so, here goes.
Hillary Clinton will lose the Democrat nomination despite her Pennsylvania performance. Barrack Hussein Obama may not steamroll her into oblivion but she is destined for it nonetheless. Obama’s oratorical skills so far outweigh her calculating, legalistic, “femenazi” vicious, power lust, that even though she may stake out superior positions to Obama’s on health care, welfare, business reform, national security, and the leftist staple of issues, her campaign style has revealed her for what she is and that is the change that motivates people in droves.
If I didn’t listen to his political positions, I might even be persuaded to support him. Fortunately for me, and unfortunately for Obama I do listen and reject his socialist agenda for America. Additionally, Obama is no patriot. Anyone who refuses to wear a symbol of the nation does not need to lead the nation, especially since he does not want to “…be perceived as taking sides.”
That comment raises the question, “If you do not want to be perceived as taking sides Mr. Obama, whose side would you be on as President of the United States?” My attitude is, if you don’t want to be on America’s side what American would be dumb enough to vote for you? Evidently a lot of Democrats and some Republicans, and that raises the question about whose side they are on.
One of Obama’s central themes is to unite the country. Why bother? Why would someone who has listened the Pastor Wright’s diatribe for 20 years what anything to do with largely “white” America? It is very clear that Michele Obama hasn’t thought much of America until her husband began to do well in the race for the Democrat nomination. But in an effort to unite the country Mr. Obama would have to move decidedly to the right or exercise the classic socialist liberal option, that is, kill off conservatives. Believe me when I write that there is plenty of precedent for that option among people of the leftist persuasion.
If the battle for the Democrat nomination makes it to the convention still undecided, and thereafter the Clinton’s succeed in wresting the nomination from Obama, it will so split the Democrat Party that Obama supporters will stay at home rather than vote for Hillary. In the alternative, if Obama wins fair and square in the technical sense, the antipathy between Obama and Clintons make it virtually impossible that he would select her as running mate.
But, if the Democrat Convention selects Obama as its nominee, here’s one that hasn’t come up yet. It is possible that in his continuing practice of “reaching across the isle,” Senator McCain could choose Rodham-Clinton to be his V.P. nominee.
Not a chance? Is this far fetched? Impossible? Not so fast. The Democrat Convention is in August and the Republican Convention is in September so there would be time for a vanquished Clinton to work a deal with McCain, that is, unless it is already in the works. Consider this, during comments made at about the time of the South Carolina primary Bill Clinton said:
"She and John McCain are very close, they always laugh that if they wound up being the nominees of their party, it would be the most civilized election in American history and they're afraid they'd put the voters to sleep because they like and respect each other."
Face it, a McCain/Clinton ticket is a match made in hell that even the New York Times would bless.
Republican movement on the political spectrum is so far in the direction of the Democrats that one has to admit that there are pathetic few remaining “distinguishing” characteristics between them. We’ll see their respective platforms soon enough.
A McCain/Clinton “marriage” would accomplish the unification that Obama talks about but otherwise knows nothing about and could not achieve because he has zero experience at unification. This is especially significant since he had twenty years of opportunity in his own church but didn’t lift a finger.
Politics is said to make strange bedfellows and this little thought illustrates that nothing is out of the realm of possibility. In any event it is interesting to think about; it won’t be long before we’ll see how the movie ends.
Semper Fidelis

That would be crazy! Wonder what their combined position on firearms would be like. Here is a brief article from Gun Digest; The NRA Gives McCain a Thorough Examination
Members of the National Rifle Association have their collective eye on Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the Republican Party’s candidate for president.
As Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA, told The Hill, he's regularly asked by NRA members, "What’s the deal with John McCain?" "Cox said that members have expressed ‘a lot of borderline resentment in some circles’ over McCain," the publication said. "But because of the outright disdain for both of the Democratic candidates’ past positions on gun control, the NRA is actively seeking a way for McCain to directly address its members and smooth over past troubles." That resentment stems from two high-profile disagreements McCain had with the NRA. "Specifically, McCain played a leading role in crafting the campaign finance reform law that bears his name and that also enraged many lobbying groups," The Hill noted. "The NRA was one of the most outspoken. ... The Arizona senator also ran afoul of the group when he pushed for tighter restrictions on buying guns at gun shows. To be sure, McCain has often been a friend on issues dear to the NRA, Cox said. But Cox added that his members intend to scrutinize the candidates’ entire legislative records, and not just the points of agreement." "He will be asked about gun shows," Cox said. "He will be asked about campaign finance reform. Can he help himself? Yes. Can he hurt himself? Yes." — Brian McCombie |

McCain has flip flopped on his voting so far .... looks like he'll do it more ... here we go again ... no one we can really trust ... glad you brought up the fact the NRA helps us Chris ... I got bashed in another forum for making that statement . The mccain - kennedy bill was a cute one too .... on immigration . And was'nt it good old Bubba Clinton who forced the last gun ban bill through .... what makes anyone think momma hillary will defend our rights ? Obama would'nt vote for the anti gang law in his state but he makes lousey remarks about legal citizen ownership of firearms .... we may be in for a rocky road again .
