I am looking at buying a 10x super sniper for my Savage Tactical .308. CDNN has ads for BEC and Target Sports tactical scopes that are very similar in style for under $100 each with mil-dot, AO, hand turned turrets, etc. Are these untested scopes worth anything, a good buy, or just junk? Also, who makes rings for super snipers that work well but cost less $ than Badger, I'm trying to do this on a budget.
Thanks for any advise,

I have a BEC 3-9x42 illuminated AR scope I bought years ago. It broke within 2 years on a AR. BEC did fix it (i.e. send me a new one), no questions asked for $12 and since then it just collects dust. Maybe I'll put it on a .22. BEC is probably better than BSA but that is about it. I would not buy one again. Someone explain to be what the BEC machining or manufacturing process makes the thing smell so funny. Seriously, they smell funny.
I would spend the extra $ on a SS and have something for life. If you can not afford that, the Bushnell 3200 10x40 mil-dot would be as low as I would go. Everyone else will cost less than Badger Ord. TPS makes HQ rings for less than Badger. IOR is less expensive. Leupold Mk4.

the SS10X42 is one aweosme damn scope, and BEC scopes are just plain crap. i havnt look for who all makes a tactical base for a savage action, but i know badger does, and i think IOR does, but i know there is no MK4 bases for it. MK4 rings will serve you well, and get a good base too.

TPS makes bases for SA Savages.
I remember reading something that the Savage Rcvr changed with the introduction of the Accu-Trigger. The TPS bases also specify they are for the Accu-Trigger models. You might want to look into that. |

If you need a scope base, Ken Ferrell makes a great product at a fair
price. He also makes great rings. I use Warne rings on most
of my scopes. You can buy all of them from Brownells.
