Here we go again on the cable news .... we had better watch our rears guys ! It may not be really top gun posting about rifle scopes ... but the news and the feds have been plastering lately that anyone with 10 - 12 firearms owns what they consider an arsenal and we have have intentions of anarchy on our minds ! Man they pee me off with that labeling ! Guess it's time to make sure my NRA dues are paid up !

Yeah, when "they" come to round up your weapons, just wave your NRA membership at them....Good plan.
This thread will probably get moved to a more appropriate forum. We'll see... Edited by cheaptrick - April/05/2008 at 09:00 |

thats the problem with the nra, they do work very hard for us, but really in all reality if that dreaded day ever comes they will just grab a list of nra members and go to there homes first.

Its funny how a gun collection soon becomes an arsenal once the media gets a hold of it.

Theres several different ways to confiscate weapons other than door kicking, which in my opinion, is the least likely scenario.
Turn off the food supply, water, heat, electricity, etc. and most folks will gladly give up their guns. Watching your wife and kids go cold and hungry until you surrender your guns, has a way of getting to ya I spect.

Nato will just say they do not acknowlege the U.S. Government and just walk in. The French and Canadians leading the way. Our Military will be disarmed by decree.

any collection is an arsenal.. any semi auto is an assault rifle ....any bolt action is a sniper rifle .....and so on !! it can drive a sane person nuts..... Like whenever someone goes before Congress complaining about AK's and such,,They always stick a 30 or 40 round mag in it--first rule --remove the mag and open the bolt you idiots !!!!! You guys are still better off than here in Canada. Here is an excerpt from the firearm control centre. I qualify on the last point:
"The Firearms Act contains inspection powers to ensure that gun owners will comply with laws governing safe storage. Inspection powers apply only to businesses, gun collectors(?), owners of prohibited firearms, and anyone who owns more than 10 firearms."
I have not been "inspected" yet and don't know anyone who has but the control is there. The firearms inspectors have to request a visit in advance and I can refuse unless a warrant is obtained. I can also elect to bring my firearms to the front door for inspection if I don't want to permit entrance and avoid a warrant!
"Section 105 of the Firearms Act requires a person, after being given reasonable notice, to show his or her guns to a firearms officer for the purpose of verifying the registration information and the serial number on the firearm. This power does not allow firearms officers to go into homes, unless an owner expressly consents. Otherwise, the owner can bring their firearms to the front door of their residence or to a local police station."
Not sure under what conditions an inspection would take place. Maybe if you had a number of grandfathered prohibited weapons but this point is not spelled out. Pisses me off when I think about it and did try to fight it before the legislation was passed but lost anyway. The incident that finally pushed this through was the killing of 14 young women at a Montreal university by a guy with an "assault" rifle.
Wonder if 8shots has this type of control too?

A failed mental health system and a failed war on illegal drugs does not rationally mean taking firearms away from law abiding citizens is the right plan of action, but we have not seen much government interest in protecting our industrial base through wise trade policy, or much in the way of financially responsible spending. I am beginning to think we may need a third political party so we can elect trustworthy representation that does not owe favors to special interest. If those in power decide to take the guns away I would suggest they start at Lexington and Concorde where the British attempted the same thing. Defend the Constitution.

We have a similiar "right of inspection" as Canada. We have to produce said fire-arm and documentation within 7 days of such a request.
This is a non-issue currently in South Africa, but it is on the law books and should you be requested to produce said fire-arm, you cannot refuse.

Well ding dong .... they've done more for firearms owners than ANY other group .... and guess what .... some presidents are members ! I'd rather have millions of NRA members backing me up than some of these limp wristed/minded guys who would do nothing except tell me how wrong being an NRA member would be

Do those idiots in congress and the sissy*ssed backers of gun bills realize there are millions of firearms ... tens of thousands of labeled assault rifles out there and it's only one sick idiot " I REPEAT ONE " doing a stupid act ? Congressmen would do better to stop taking the young boy pledges in the bathroom for sick sex and using our tax dollars for multi thousand dollar prostitutes ! NO ... they don't !

I never said being a NRA member was wrong, did I?
If you think just being a member of some paid gun lobby group is going to insure your gun rights, you are a fool. The NRA has been paid and paid well for their "work".
I never asked them to keep my guns safe from the gun grabbers and I owe them nothing....Out.
